The prices of mortgage backed securities came under some pressure yesterday following several positive economic reports and unexpected strong earnings from Ford. The volume of trading was rather thin, but the losses held until close causing several lenders to reissue new rate sheets increasing consumer borrowing costs.

Betsy Lawler found herself in quite the quandary while cooking dinner for her family of five on Monday evening. In what appears to be an obvious case of contamination from the factory; a sailor hat, a bulging piece of a man's forearm with an anchor tattoo, and a pipe were found in her can of spinach.

October 2009 Follow Up

The incredible amount of rain that fell in September only continued and intesified in October 2009. This month started out with cloudy and wet days for the first half of the month. By the second half of the month, we still had inches of rain but we are able to see some perfectly clear skies a few days. Because we had so many fast moving cold fronts through our area this month, October 2009 ended .8 degrees F cooler than normal, the first cool October since 2003.
