It's not dishonesty. It's called being human. We are notoriously hypocritical.
Try here. You can see atheists and Christians along with a range of other varying beliefs in God and the nature of reality try and defeat the abuse of the LGBT community within religion. Half the people on that thread I have no idea about their religious beliefs because that's not the point.
