Just like Avalon, this development is only walkable in the sense once you drive and park at the development. It provides no good ped connection to surrounding roads (because there is a lack of a grid). This development treats Circle 75 as a back alley and makes it not inviting for anyone walking along the road.
Also, the bridge over 285 can be removed from the renderings, because it will not happen.
The Battery Atlanta | Braves development at SunTrust Park
Well, you've gotta start somewhere.

The vast majority of people who go to Turner field also drive in and park, so the Cobb location will at least give them some additional walking options.

Atlanta loves nick-naming things. I predict there will be a fistfight at this place shortly after opening and everyone will start calling it Assault and Battery Park.

Where are those walking options? Cobb DOT has a plan to add a multiuse trail along Windy Ridge, but that will end at Circle 75. Then people will be dumped out at a surface lot and back end of the stadium. There is still a 1/2 mile walk to reach the eastern end of the mixed use development. I see only 1 road connecting the development to Cobb Pkwy, do you honestly expect people will walk along Cobb Pkwy, when people complain so much about walking along Capital Ave?
I will say it once again, this development is walkable in the sense that you can walk, once you drive and park. But this development nor the stadium has enough parking for the number of seats, in fact currently it has less parking than Turner Field, not counting the gypsy lots around Turner Field.

The mixed use piece is the best idea there and it looks nice. But it is still underwhelming. A half-Krog-Street-Market worth of restaurants spread out over that area is unimpressive. Location / context matters. It is still a mixed use development in a suburban office park. And the stadium is only going to hurt the area.

There is a reason there is more development going in along Memorial Drive near Turner Field than there is near SunTrust Field.

All I can think of when the Braves are combined with Battery is John Rocker.

Two of the biggest, densest areas of bars and restaurants in Atlanta (West Midtown and VAHI) aren't on the Marta line and people figure it out, this will be no different.

MARTA bus also serves West Midtown and VAHI.

I think we're saying the same thing, cq. The Braves development will provide a lot of walkability options within the development. These didn't exist before.

It will take longer for other areas to develop more walkability. I mean, gee whiz, look at the Turner field area -- that is hardly a walkability nirvana.

Likewise with the new Falcons stadium. These new projects can help but they are not a cure all for decades of prior development.

Yes, the Marta bus stations are just packed with people leaving VAHI and West Midtown restaurants and bars (sarcasm).

First of all, I don't know if that's true. Second of all, it probably has more to do with the resurgence of East Atlanta in general (Beltline etc.) than Turner Field.
