I'm not sure what you mean. Most people with sarcastic senses of humor (me, most people I know) are pretty gung ho on life. It is just funny. Life is great. Could I make more money? Sure, but whatever, I do ok, enjoy life. Most people I know do. That doesn't mean they can't be funny and have a edgy / cutting wit.

We inherited it from the British, and later Irish who settled here.

No really. Compared to when I was living in Florida and my time spent in the South...people are just happier there. Maybe some people who have never left here who might not know what they are missing. Also, I think some extreme type A personalities are more prone to not be miserable here.

I'm from Boston so the "sense of humor" that people have here 1. Does not strike me as unique or 2. Really have any effect on me at all.

I'm just speaking about oh...people I have worked with in both an office and a bar and friends of mine.

sarcastic humor is the easiest form of humor. If you have a sarcastic sense of humor you don't have a real sense of humor. The worst is when people overdo it....talk about obnoxious.

Our humor also involves a lot of 'ball busting'. This also doesn't go over well in other parts of the country. Unfortunately I think come off as an a--hole most of the time whenever I travel.

No it is simply one of several types of humor. I know many who can have both a "dry" and a "wet" humor when need be.

I think ball busting is more of a North Eastern thing vs. a Boston thing. It isn't offensive as long as the person delivering it isn't socially inept...ball bust w/ a smile I say.

I've lived in Wisconsin, Vermont, California, Florida (Kissimmee),Kentucky, and Indiana.. so I've left here and lived other places... for most of my adult life, and no, I don't think people are happier elsewhere. Maybe they are a bit in Wisconsin

+1

That also seems to be a British thing as well.

True, I temper it when living elsewhere... but in California there was very little humor at all... No real mirth. It was bizarre.
