"just bought a house in Daly City for $920,000"

Ouch, just let that sink in for a moment...

Ok, I did...and so what? They aren't asking for your blessings, or anyone's permission. They lived in a one bedroom apartment for 5 years while they saved for the down payment and they both have excellent jobs.

You don't get the irony casually saying they bought their first house for just under a million?

What should I do, type it in ALL CAPS and put shocked emojis all over the page?

One million is the median home price in San Jose, dude. Don't be jealous because we live in a desirable area.

4 years and counting, the family and I have been living with the in-laws saving money for a down-payment. 2 more years of saving money and we should have 20% needed for modest home here in the outskirts of the Bay Area. It really takes sacrifice, patience and most importantly, family to help you out! We are lucky in that respect.

Would never be able to do it if we were paying the insane rent prices out there. Throwing money away to greedy landlords. No thank you.

I don't really need a house because I will never have kids (sadly...it wasn't my choice...but nobody liked me back so there you go). But if my income were higher, about 150k or so, I could probably do it, because I have the VA Home Loans where you don't have to do a down payment. I don't understand why all home loans are not like that. Those down payments are surely a major factor restricting who can own a home.

Yes, as it helps show they can afford it and are using their money wisely.
