With Jesus repeatedly calling himself the "Bridegroom" and the "saved" his bride, based upon their mutual reciprocal love , is it possible that this is universalist concept of after refusing the bridegroom in this life , the future bride is then taken to the next world's woodshed, beaten, whipped, and punished , until the punishment administered causes them to think better of the whole thing & submit to the bridegroom's marriage wishes could be any more sick & twisted ?

We all (humanity) have limited perspectives about God
He says His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways
We know His thoughts by His Spirit which has this fruit which fulfills His purposes and His ways:- love, joy, peace, patience, long-suffering, self-control
We do need these qualities if we are ever to learn about God and the Divine
