We do not do works for brownie points we do them for salvation....
I've never seen a scripture that says I have to do works for salvation. Salvation is a gift of God when He calls us...that is Him giving us that gift...there is NO WORK that needs to be done for that God give that freely to whom He wills to have it.

Ok maybe this will help. Luke 16:22-23 says the beggar went to Abrahams bosom and the rich man lifted up his eyes from where? Hell it says. Now in verse 26 after asking for water to cool his tongue, he learns there is a great gulf and he can not "pass to us that would come from thence". Point is, the rich man could not leave hell to go to Abraham's bosom nor vice versa.
The rich man and Lazarus IS NOT a story about the final destiny of any fallen creature.

The Bible says, "it is appointed of men once to die" then what is next? "then after this, the judgement". Not after this, chastisement before judgement. What happens on judgement? Revelation 20:12-15 shows that hell is delivered up and cast where? into the lake of fire the second death.

The result of the judgment is kolasis aionion Matthew 25:46 (age-during corrective chastisement), not eternal hell.
James was saying, that faith without the evidence of works is dead.
Does it say faith without the evidence of works or faith without works? It is plain as day that faith is dead without works. I can say something all day but until I live it, it is not true. Jesus says only those that do his will go to heaven Matt 7:21.
