You really have it out for Philly don't you? Doooo you want pictures? Emporis is not entirely accurate and readily up-to-date.Out of the ones under construction/site prep:
Comcast Innovation and Technology Center - offices/Four Seasons Hotel/retail - 59 floors - 1,121 feet
- core just rose above street level. Foundation work continuing. First tower crane installed next week. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...6ca8b770d1e9f9
FMC Tower at Cira Centre South - offices/AKA extended stay suites/retail - 49 floors - 730 feet
-core about 150 feet up. Steel framework started. Two out of three towers cranes up. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...57116186f12c74
SLS International Hotel and Residences - SLS hotel/condos/retail - 47 floors - 590 feet
-demo of existing structure/site clearance. http://i.imgur.com/DQ0e2Wb.jpg
One Riverside - condos - 22 floors - 260 feet
-ripping up current surface parking lot. Don't have a photo for this one, but here is a photo of the signage that was put up on the fence a few weeks ago when they first closed down the lot. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...4a&oe=557FB125
Also, in my search for pictures, I realized I forgot about the 11 floor, 1924 Arch, which will be apartments and is currently under construction and a few floors up. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...1f78a3a0a7577e
Thattttt's 22 projects. And I'm expecting a few more to start this year like 2400 Market, 1911 Walnut, 205 Race, 1213 Walnut, 23rd and Cherry, Edgewater II, Chinatown Eastern Tower, 1528 Cherry, 4224 Baltimore at least.
Sorry like I said they only count when the foundation starts .
But but but Emporis said. .... Don't even know why you responded to that hater/troll. He/she is delusional.
Really Emporis treats every one equally they count buildings under construction when foundation starts ? And how would I be a troll when I'm not pushing any city or even comparing . Don't be so paranoid.
Philly has A LOT under construction, but it is true that certain Philly boosters do try to prop up their list by including notable projects such as SLS and the W (among others). I have no doubt that both will be built, but from the sounds of forumers on another website, there is still more *hope* than real action.
In this day and age, every city has a surface lot or vacant building itching or currently being torn down for a serious proposal, at any given time. It doesn't actually mean that said building is literally under construction - it's still just a proposal, no matter how serious!
Emporis only counts buildings under construction but they list two skyscrapers and two high rise in Philadelphia under construction.
Was this really necessary? Why do people hate to see construction going on in other cities than their own? Isn't it always a good thing when things are being built no matter what city it is in? I guess I should know the answer to that with all the shade that is thrown our way in D.C., but I still will never understand it. This stuff isn't bad, it's good! We should all be happy for everyone. SMH.....
I love Philly! Nice projects. It's definitely underrated on the east coast. I like visiting there almost as much as I do NYC or Boston. Always a great time.

It's not "boosting." I didn't claim they were under construction at all. I listed all projects either under construction or in "Site Prep" - meaning any project with workers on site. W/Element and SLS are technically in the site prep phase. Both are fully financed and ready to role. General contractors have already signed on, with Tutor Perini overseeing the W and Hunter Roberts overseeing the SLS.
W/Element was in the stage of tearing up the parking lot, relocating utility lines, and bracing surronding foundations of existing structures. Now they are finalizing foundation plans. Next, we will see the start of bulk excavation. It will take 3-4 months for excavation/shoring. After that foundation work will begin, which will be another 3-4 months before the project breaches street level. Here is the L&I work in progress sign posted which is required by law that these are posted on-site at the start of construction: http://hestia.nighsoft.net/files/IMG_00001835.jpg
SLS is a few steps behind W. Jersey Barriers and fencing has gone up around the site. They have started demolition of the existing structures on site. The site includes an empty lot which has been cleared and two lowrise structures which just finished asbestos abatement and are now being demolish. Once demolition is finished and the site is cleared, we will see bulk excavation/shoring.

I don't understand. It's ridiculous. I'm nothing but elated for NYC, DC, Miami, SF, LA, Seattle, Chi, Houston, Boston, etc. for all the projects going on in those cities. Some projects I'm a little jealous of but I never throw hate towards those cities for it.
It baffles me that any little thing a Philadelphian posts we're met almost instantaneously with attacks from other posters from other cities. It could be literally anything and we're called "boosters."
Typical Seattlelite thinking their town is the only one booming.
Hey, careful not to generalize there, bud. Any city has boosters and regular, level-headed residents.
Nearly all American cities are booming right now given American's new-found appreciation for its urban centers. It's great news all around. I for one am thrilled that Philly has so much going on right now. To this day I am baffled that it isn't more popular than it is because I find Philly's architecture and urban structure downright fantastic.
