Yup--I'm American, and I admit that Toronto wins this. But I also love Toronto way more than SF or many other cities in this country. It's very underrated.
Agreed - this isn't a subjective forum on which city one prefers, which is more beautiful etc the numbers in this case are pretty clear yet the GTA still trails in the poll... Speaks to something!
It asks which feels not is. What does your gut feeling tell you? As Colbert says:
That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut. Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up. Now, I know some of you are going to say, "I did look it up, and that's not true." That's 'cause you looked it up in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut. I did. My gut tells me that's how our nervous system works.

Sure - try and rationalize it that way lol.... The facts are clear - Toronto/GTA with a combined South Asian/East/Southeast Asian population has far more people of that persuasion than S.F/Bay Area...

Not alot of Americans know as much about Toronto as they do about other U.S cities so it really is to be expected.. Americans who live closer geographically to it typically know more about it but like most places - they only know the main parts, particularly the DT core and there's a whole lot more to the city.
The Asian demographics of Toronto remind me of Queens (NYC) - a more thoroughly balanced and equal distribution of various Asian ethnic groups (Pakistani, Korean, Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, etc.)

Yep, they're pretty similar. The main differences are that the South Asian population in Toronto doesn't have as much Bangladeshi or Pakistani representation- but instead has an enormous Sri Lankan population- which NYC doesn't have. Queens is more Korean, while Toronto is more Chinese, Filipino, and Vietnamese. Another thing they both have in common is a huge Indo-Guyanese population...not sure whether the Indo-Guyanese are counted as South American or Asian- though Guyana is clearly in South American. Toronto's Indian population probably has a much higher Punjabi Sikh representation- kind of along the lines of London- while Queens is fairly polyglot with regard to its Indian population (with a strong Gujarati contingent). Also, I'd imagine that the Chinese in Queens would tend to be Mandarin-speaking, while those in Toronto would tend to speak Cantonese.
Demographically, Toronto is kind of what would result if London, NYC and San Francisco had a child
Interestingly enough, they're both just under 50% foreign born.
On a semi-related note, here are all the languages spoken in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga (pop. ~750,000) with at least 1,000 speakers each...next to each language is the # of speakers and the percentage of Mississauga's population comprised by speakers of that language.

True; however Sikhs/Punjabis are no slouch in Queens either-Richmond Hills is very representative of that demographic. The Bangladeshis have to be the fastest growing group In Queens overall; they are really starting to dominate many neighborhoods.
Toronto by quite a bit, especially if you include the suburbs. Markham/RH is one of the only suburbs anywhere I enjoy spending time in because of the amazing Asian food scene.
