Definitely Macon. The Carbondale area has more going on than most of southern IL (not a high bar), but Macon'sdowntown looks actively pleasant. I don't know if it feels like a 160k city, but it feels like one of the smallish historic cities in upstate NY or PA, except much better maintained.
Hm. I can see pros and cons with both. I prefer the lush greenery of Olympia, but it also never gets warm enough there. I prefer Pueblo's warmer summers. I think Olympia is probably more scenic in its immediate surroundings, but Pueblo isn't far from spectacular scenery. I guess I'll go with Pueblo because I believe it's quite a bit cheaper, and I suspect that Olympia is "crunchier" than I'd prefer.
Manhattan, obviously. There is a pretty clear distinction here between residential and tourist area for the most part. That’s less so in River North, which overlaps touristy and residential more than here. But it is still a cool part of the city IMO.

Back Bay in Boston or Park Slope in Brooklyn?
While both neighborhoods look nice, I think I'll go with Park Slope. I'd love to explore NYC further, and I like how close it is to Prospect Park and also Greenwood Cemetery.
Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland, or Over the Rhine neighborhood in Cincinnati?
