Gatlinburg, TN or Incline Village, NV?
Gatlinburg, TN. I have fond memories of the place. I have spent many vacations there and need to go back for a visit.

Redding, CA or New Orleans, LA?

Redding, CA

Both cities have miserable summer weather. I am familiar with Redding and I could drive to Sacramento, the Bay Area and Monterey County to visit people I know (and vica versa). My parents retired and lived in Redding for several years in the 1990's and I made several visits. Has beautiful areas nearby like Shasta and Whiskeytown Lakes, the Sacramento River, mountains fairly close & a few nice parks. It is the safer city, too.

Given the current terrible fire in the west side of Redding, I would probably choose a residence east of I-5. Were I in my 20's instead of in my late 50's, I might have chosen New Orleans (French qtr, more dining & entertainment).

Bakersfield, CA or Baton Rouge, LA?

I've been to both of these cities ... not really a huge fan of either but if I had to choose, I guess I'd stay west and pick Bakersfield.

Bothell, WA or Beaverton, OR?

Beaverton... closer to downtown Portland than Bothell is to downtown Seattle, better public transit options, slightly warmer, proximity to Nike HQ would be cool too.

Clovis, NM or Salina, KS?

Clovis, NM or Salina, KS?
Salina, KS -- I love Midwestern towns and the older architecture, the traditional downtown as well as newer stores available out toward the edge of town. Also like the city parks. Dislike the state politics and threat of tornadoes, but would still pick it over Clovis, due to high poverty levels in N.M.

DeKalb, IL or Beloit, WI

DeKalb - it is slightly bigger, and closer to Chicago.

St. Louis, MO or Kansas City, MO?

City-Wise Kansas City because of it's growth, lower crime, & less poverty, although metro wise I'd go with St.Louis because it's a bigger metro with more to offer.

Newark, NJ or New Brunswick, NJ?

Newark. It's a bigger city, and has a lot of cool things happening in it right now.

Jacksonville, FL or Savannah, GA?

Savannah, even though it's smaller. More charm than any city its size has a right to have (up there with Charleston just up the coast in that department). And a cooler, more urbane vibe to boot IME. (Though I haven't been there since "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" put that Savannah on the map.)

Lexington, Mass., or Lexington, Mo.?

Lexington Mass, it would put me close to my native hometown Salem, MA. Lexington wouldn't be my first pick (too much traffic in that area I-95/128 belt), but it's a nice affluent suburb of Boston with some remarkable Revolutionary War history. I don't think I could live in Missouri, can't place where in the state Lexington is without googling.

Rochester, NY vs Burlington, VT
