Vernal. The scenery is a lot more interesting, tucked in between the Wasatch and Rockies, and is almost as close to Denver as McCook is, not to mention there's also SLC 1.5 hours away. And the Dinosaur National Monument looks like a fun place to see. I'd even try to open up a cool Italian restaurant in nearby Naples. McCook is very plain Jane with a small main street, a couple little parks, a single little museum, and not too much else.
Hood River, OR or Marinette, WI?
Hood River. Marinette is way too close to the U.P. and if I never set foot there again it will be too soon. Plus Hood river looks like it's doing way better economically than Marinette and it's closer to a city. (And I don't care for Green Bay so I don't need to go there.) Plus the speed limit through Marinette is painful. It's just a speed trap. Downtown Marinette is surprisingly cute though even though it seems dead.
Mobile. More Southern charm than Birmingham, and it's just off the Gulf.
Brunswick, Me., or New Brunswick, N.J.?
New Brunswick... While NB as a whole may have more quality of life issues, the area by the university in particular seems alright, and I'd prefer to live in a larger, more urban region with a warmer climate.

Washington Island, WI or Beaver Island, MI?
Washington Island, WI. Wisconsin is a very beautiful state.
I’ll take Rahway. It has a little downtown area and good train service. Love some of the older Queen Anne and Victorian homes too.
South of the Border, SC or Wall Drug, SD?
Wall Drug, SD
Lol. Those are two kitschy, but popular tourist stops. Wall is very small, but it is reasonably close to Rapid City (55 miles), Deadwood, the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore. I also know people in neighboring Minnesota where I grew up and am familiar with the region. Were it not for that, I may have chosen South of the Border, SC despite the heat and humidity.
I'll copy ASJackson814: the two most recent places I've lived...
Salinas, CA or Sunnyvale, CA?

Salinas for me, assuming I don't have to commute anywhere.
Copying the pattern, two most recent homes:
Jersey City, NJ or Montclair, NJ?
