VA doesn't have the same demographics, they have similar demographics. VA is southern but the poorer people never faced the level of poverty and lack of educational opportunities that GA's impoverished faced. GA has made strides but it's never going to compete with VA when it comes to QOL because the demographics will not allow it to. The only advantages GA possesses over VA is population growth and economic growth.
So because VA didn’t let their poor get as a poor as poor people in GA, GA gets a pass?
Virginians didn’t magically become better off than Georgians. Policy changes people’s lives. Virginia educated its people better, gave them more opportunity and built an industrial, mining and agricultural economy to employ them. Virginia spends more on education. Virginia expanded Medicare.
Rural Virginians were just as poor as rural Georgians. We basically have the same demographics . virginia and Georgia have extremely wealthy people. Virginia’s poor just aren’t as poor. How is that anything other than a negative reflection on Georgia ( the state with the larger economy)

Comprehension is key...Hence, the social issue design that's currently in place today. GA's social issues were and currently are worse than VA's, which is what you basically stated when you spoke on education and Medicare. It's a little deeper than policies but I'm really not trying to go there on city-data. Also, VA rural areas were never as poor as GA's rural areas. Moreover, GA may have the larger economy but it also houses 2 million more people so the per capita is smaller than VA's which identifies economic disparities...another social issue...
Good luck with your future fonting in this thread. Any thread involving Atlanta or Georgia vs (insert any admirable city/state) is nothing more than a mud slinging, rock throwing, train wreck.

Definitely agree. All Atlanta threads go downhill no matter who is involved although it usually involves the same homers. Wonder what the key variable is.....
Everyone loves Georgia and Atlanta is a top 10 US city.
There has been no mud slinging in this thread.
Atlanta probably gets a lot of heat because it’s such a prominent city. People generally don’t have strong opinions about places that are inconsequential.

I think the problem with the Virginia vs. Georgia comparison is that both will be blown away by Texas. Austin is far more relevant to tech than anyplace in Virginia or Georgia, and Atlanta's growth will continue to be slower than DFW, Houston, an Austin. Austin will surpass in Atlanta in annual numeric growth sometime in the 20s.
Speaking of ATL airport, it's a problem that its south of the town when so much of the growth has been to the north. Atlanta is now the 2nd largest urbanized area in the country in terms of land, and no one in their right mind wants to travel from Duluth or Alpharetta to Hartsfield-Jackson anytime around rush hour.
Atlanta has been growing faster than Houston but not Dallas. Nobody wants to traveol in rush hour to any major airport in the country.Try getting to Reagan or Dulles in rush hour
