Brownsville. All border cities but while Laredo isn't quite as lush as Brownsville it's quite different than El Paso's desert landscape
with a mountainous backdrop.

Is El Paso more similar to Albuquerque NM or Tucson AZ?

These three are fairly close but I'll say Albuquerque. El Paso is more cosmopolitan and has a more put together built environment which is closer to Albuquerque, where Tucson has been mired in mediocrity.


Is Detroit more similar to Cleveland, or Chicago?

Cleveland for sure. Chicago is a borderline world class city. Cleveland and Detroit are much more on par with each other when it comes to local economies, cultural offerings, housing market, etc.

Is Austin more similar to Indianapolis or Jacksonville?

While its regarded as entertainment capital for African Americans, the similarities stop there. IMO. It has more in common with Chicago than a West Coast city if we exclude transplants.

Is Houston more similar to Memphis or Louisville

Memphis for sure. Black history, music, bbq, delta, southern.

Asheville being similar sized college towns near the mountains.
