Neither are near the Rockies but Denver is technically still part of the Great Plains, at the edge. I'd go with OKC size wise.

Is Atlanta more similar to New York City or Los Angeles?

Los Angeles due to being in the Sunbelt, traffic and the entertainment industry. Is El Paso more similar to Albuquerque or Tucson?

Albuquerque due to shared underratedness. Also more unique and attractive downtowns.

Is Detroit, MI more similar to Kansas City, MO or Indianapolis, IN?

I'd say Bakersfield. It's a little bigger than Fresno and not as strongly identified with a single farm crop the way Fresno is.

A comment on the Memphis/NO/KC comparison: I would have said NO too as Borntoolatet85 did, but I should note that KC also has a strong musical heritage — on the timeline and geography of jazz in America, it lies between New Orleans and New York as an epicenter. African-Americans make up a smaller percentage of the core city's population than in the other two cities, but they are a sizable portion of the population and have put three of their own in the mayor's office, including its current occupant and his predecessor.

Which is more like Dallas, Houston or Oklahoma City?

Houston. No contest. Both are in TX, have large metros and industries.

I'd say Greenville because it's part of a metro with 2 main cities. Is Chula Vista CA more similar to Ft. Lauderdale FL or Plano TX?
