The other "high culture" arts is a lot better in New York unless you're just looking for Nutcracker at Christmas.
Ballet? Opera? Theatre? Go to NYC. The museums are appropriate for the size and wealth of Boston but it ain't New York or DC which are the best on the east coast.

I've aged out of Little Joe Cook at the Cantab, bluegrass at the Plough, and jazz at the Regattabar.

Pound for pound, Boston offers a lot for it's size. And there's a lot more en route.

PFP only works when the cities are at least somewhat comparable in scale. Thats kind of my take on most things Bos vs NYC.

High Culture being "en route" sounds suspect. It ain't a nightclub..BSO and NY's Orchestra are like 140 years old.

Not really for similar size. Per capita data is better.

NYC is one of the premier high culture centers anywhere in the world. Boston would slot into the next tier below and that is pretty damn good for a city of its size.

Seriously, this is about Missouri and Massachusetts.
Instead, people are playing into the stereotypes the rest of the country has towards northeasterners: they think they’re the center of the universe.
Just more reasons I choose Missouri.

Washington DC and NYC actually are- more or less-the center of the universe though... Boston is also the Education capital of the universe too. Asking people to act like it's not the case is actually annoying to me the same way you're annoyed.

People who try to make you eat large servings of humble pie just because they don't have what you have are the worst. Just comes across as jealousy and hate.

If Missouri disappeared today no one would really notice. Sounds harsh but so what? If the Northeast US disappeared today?? Yea..
