No, i'm saying people from NYC who put down cities outside the US might have a napoleon complex. I say that because the definition of this is "the condition of being small in stature..." so it wouldn't make sense for someone from NYC having a napoleon complex with other cities in the US, because it's larger than the other cities in the US. Get it?

Buckhead is not the suburbs, sorry. It is a district within the City. A district that has everything from 50 story buildings, to estates on multiple acres. There is absolutely nothing about the area that seems rural.

I guess any trees planted outside Central Park that are not surrounded by a grate and cement/asphalt is considered rural. I have only driven through Atlanta hope to go back and explore, but have been to Savannah several times great city.

LOL! Most New Yorkers aren't so closed minded, but we have one in particular here that has an extremely narrow world view outside of her little bubble in Queens.

Savannah IS a fabulous city, isn't it?

You're right...the definition of Napoleon Complex would not apply to NYC as per your argument.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder would be more apropos.

Got it. Look I like NYC I stayed in Queens once. It was either Queens Blvd. in Astoria or Astoria Blvd. I can't remember. The last time I was there was a friend's converted loft in SO HO (south of Houston pronouced houseton) in one of those old iron buildings. But it is not the center of the universe, maybe for New Yorkers but not the rest of the nation.

Astoria blvd is in Astoria. I live a couple blocks away

People just don't understand that some people have pride about where they come from. I don't get on people's cases when they talk about how much they like their city. Some people, not many, on C-D actually like where they live. People are really taking me the wrong way, and it's angering me when they personally attack me when I'm not putting them down. I'm glad you understand my point, unlike some people on here. What I said is common sense, not anything stuck-up or arrogant. For example, a person from Chicago wouldn't have a napoleon complex towards someone from a smaller city, like Omaha.

Where's Detroit? And D.C. metro is bigger than San Fran.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet as I don't have the patience to read through this whole thread, but this should clear things up as far as the 2000 census goes:

http://www.census.gov/population/www...bles/tab03.pdf

And although I'm not usually one to participate in these "city vs. city" battles- it's just downright offensive to categorize Minneapolis with the likes of such lesser cities (Charlotte??? Raleigh??? some others that I've already forgotten in that category????). The above table shows Mpls as the 15th largest metro in country, but I've read that it's population has actually (more recently?) been ranked at #13.

Only a person with a napoleon complex would start a thread like this.

Let's not play the victim here, dear. Shall we review the context of some of your recent posts?

Telling someone that they will fit in in the South because they thought gays were immoral.

Southerners do not understand table etiquette.

Anything outside the Atlanta city limits was 'rural' (that was a knee-slapper).

FL and NC natives dislike transplants.

Raleigh, NC and Dallas,TX have lousy schools.

Schools in Houston are awful and incomparable to Long Island schools.

No guy in NYC prefers Southern women (LOL when I lived there they were wild for 'em).

Don't be surprised in the future when people take this kind of commentary "personally" and you get a reaction.
