Look at these statistic for gays in both states
GEORGIA
Total population 8,186,453 Rank: 10th

Percent of people in same-sex couples 0.47% Rank: 15th
Total same-sex couples 19,288 Rank: 7th

TEXAS
Total population 20,851,820 Rank: 2nd

Percent of people in same-sex couples 0.41% Rank: 20th
Total same-sex couples 42,912 Rank: 3rd

The rank is higher depending on which stat you use, however they are both true.Understand?

This is from the L.A. boards.

Quote:
Back in the early 80s the racial strife was Hispanic vs. Armenian and Hispanic Vs. Black at the High Schools. North Hollywood HS had huge melees. Now it seems to be Hispanic Vs. Black.

RESPONSE:

Quote:
Yup! The Hispanic vs. Armenian was what my husband would refer to.

He said one day, he'd arrive at school and see one Armenian kid being chased by a pack of Hispanic kids. The next day, one Hispanic kid being chased by a pack of Armenian kids
.

I hope this is NEVER the TYPE OF DIVERSITY IN ATLANTA

Atlanta does not have higher Colombian, Indian, Nigerian, or Chinese populations than Houston. Just as much as you saying that Houstonians can't come to grips that it's behind Atlanta in education, you cannot come to grips that Atlanta is behind Houston in diversity. Give credit where credit is due. Nobody is saying Atlanta is not diverse. It just isn't as diverse as Houston. At least not yet.

We know that. Percentages are nice. But when you want the true exact whole number, you look at the raw numbers. The raw numbers almost always comes out on top over the percentages.

Just because one has a higher percentages does not mean they actually have more. Let's look at it this way. This is city limits to city limits. Atlanta has a higher percentage of Blacks than Houston. Under your argument, Atlanta has more blacks than Houston in the city limits only because Atlanta has a higher percentage. But when one looks at the raw numbers of those percentages in these cities, guess which one comes out on top? That's why you can't just use percentages and automatically say they have more.

Atlanta would have a higher percentage in some areas because they have a much smaller foreign born population in it's metro than Houston does. That however does not mean that there is more of those nationalities in Atlanta compared to Houston.

No that was NOT my argument. This is why you can and they do use percentages.Look at it this way.San Francisco is pretty much the undisputed gay capital with the largest amount of gays. Most people will tell you that. However,it is NOT.NYC is.Because NYC has a larger overall population,it shows in the stats that NYC has more.In fact 4(FOUR)CITIES are BEFORE San Francisco. All have larger overall populations.

I honestly could care less because it really is just "splitting hairs" due to how close it actually is.But you have some people on here that think its like a "land-slide" or something. All I'm saying is ,that depending on how you look at it,it could go either way.

Yes because everyone openly admits they are gay...... What does this have to do with a city being urban anyways????

Urban Def.: Of, relating to, or located in a city.
2. Characteristic of the city or city life.

You tell me?So I guess it is open to interpretation.

Oh, so if your gay than Houston is a bad place to move to because it has a less openly gay population?
