So now, let's talk about Atlanta's infill projects. For those not in the know, the City of Atlanta is one of the national leaders in new urbanism. Not that it'll get any love on this forum since people are obsessed with talking about our suburbs.

While Houston is improving with new urban areas; I wish it would considering developing more like Atlanta. I've been really impressed with the developments in Atlanta like Atlantic Station, Midtown Mile, Streets of Buckhead, etc

Dallas also is doing the same type of process similar to Atlanta.

ATL is developing "urban" areas with a heavy hand while Houston is doing it organically. Both strategies have their pros and cons.

ATL is doing some noteworthy things but that video is just a pat on the back by the ATL chapter of a new urbanism group.

But many of the developments in Atlanta sit empty. They look nice though.

Atlanta overbuilt. Especially in Buckhead. There were so many office/residential buildings going up a few years ago. You see the same things in Dallas with areas like Victory Park. Houston builds more in line with the market instead of the "build it, and they will come" mentality.

No they aren't. With the exception of a few later built highrises (which was the result of the credit crunch and not interest), most of the those areas are pretty well occupied.

Maybe now, but even a few months ago, I was reading that a lot of them were sitting empty, or badly occupied (from Atlanta forumers at a different site).

That is quite nice what ATL is doing. I've seen the same thing in Dallas, but with more Spanish-Style looking townhouses. Same with Orlando.

Well that's not exactly an accurate source.
