I'm curious what your source of information is on "The Charles".

I heard pretty much the same thing from someone who works for one of the area utilities and whose family owns a small portion of the land involved.

On Midway Road a ways down from Rt 211 there is an entrance to an ATV trail, that property goes all the way through the rear and encompasses the area that "the Charles" was to use. The owner of the land let the POA know that the "developer" has no money, he was to make payments along the way with no money down, he has not made any payments, he was apparently looking to pay with "investments" from either prospective residents and/or investors, obviously neither has come to fruition.... he really has done nothing to the property that cost anything, he simply mowed a driveway through the brush and left a cheap trailer in there so it "appears" to be something. Alas, the owner of the property has no hope of anything happening, he said it would be a miracle if the "developer" came up with any money at this point after several years of nothing.

Thanks. I know several people have asked about "The Charles" thinking it was a real possibility for their retirement home.

I assumed it was a dead deal too after my last visit to SJP. We were talking to our sales rep and he told us Dosher was building their medical facilities outside the Seaside gate and not at the Charles location. Apparently it was never set in stone for them to build there.

Was wondering about the other track down the road which was cleared, but yet now sits empty... Heard awhile back that retail shopping was going in... Anyone hear anything on that lately?

Can you be more specific about which parcel (tract, not track) you are referring to? If you mean the northwest corner of Hwy. 211 and Middleton Blvd./Midway Road, there is now construction taking place.

Here is an existing thread discussing that project:

New stores at Midway and 211

It is not the tract at the corner where Lowes is going in.. It is down more on 211 past the the "DOA / Charles" site but before the main gate for St. James. Last year there was a sign which just said "Mirsol" on a fence that is now gone, last year they were clearing the parel at night, now there is no activity at all. Another DOA??

I think that site changed hands and the new owner is simply waiting for the "right" time to begin construction, or flip it again.

Go to loopnet and type mirasol into the search box. There is a comprehensive pkg of info available. A 13 acre parcel is being offered for sale by the master developer for the purchaser to develop an apartment complex. This is behind a retail complex and next to an envisioned single family area.
