Over 3 inches in some areas. Nuts.

And here we go with storm #3 this month, Friday-Saturday... heading towards Great Lakes (Blizzard for MidWest, Rain and Warm for us)

I hate too....but I have to agree...1000%.

That's part of the problem today, the non-stop media hype, that tries to create the impression that every storm coming is a potential catastrophe. I heard weatherman on Channel 8 say "this is going to be a bad storm, by Wed morning we could be looking at big puddles". I also think, in a way, they get mad where there is no snow to hype (because that does affect travel at least), so they play these winter rainstorms for all there worth.

We did have some power outages, spots of flooding, and some strong wind gusts, but otherwise, looks like most of the State had no real issues. Some wind gusts from Upton this morning. Keep in mind, there were predictions of many places seeing gusts to 70 or 80 mph. My highest wind gust was 33 mph:

One other note I saw:

I’m sorry but what weather stations were you watching? As far as I see this storm was what the forecasters said it would be. It rained very hard for several hours and it was very windy. The potential certainly was there to lose power. Also note that there was a lot of flooding, just as they predicted. It may not have happened where you are but it certainly did in parts of the state. Remember that Fairfield County is just one part of the state. Just because it didn’t get pummeled doesn’t mean the rest of the state didn’t. Just saying.

We've talked about the rain, the flooding, and snowmelt up in northern CT...just to add there was some storm surge flooding I saw today along the coast from mouth of CT river to Branford. Some of these spots had a surge deeper than some of the recent tropical storms:

Keep it coming. Daily mail spoke of up to 50 million power outages. Extreme (biblical) flooding - yet even the Bronx river parkway stayed open, airplanes flew without issue through the worst of the wind and rain, subway/trains ran uninterrupted. Schools opened without delay and the power stayed on. The story didn’t match reality.

Alright, your tiresome wet-blanket schtick has driven me out of my lurkerdom. The single purported source offered for your "hype porn" allegation is a rag British tabloid. Next week will you come here bemoaning the gross overstatement of the risk to hikers posed by Bigfoot that you read about in the National Enquirer?

If you're interested in discussing the reality of how the meteorological forecast stood up to the reality of the event, I invite you in the first instance to compare NWS Upton's output from the evening prior to the storm--

https://www.city-data.com/forum/66280611-post308.html

with the CoCoRaHS measurements from this morning:

https://www.city-data.com/forum/66285773-post321.html

A quick review of the 3-day history at HPN shows that it was recording gusts of 49mph at 22:56 yesterday evening. Again, this is in-line with the peak wind forecasts.

Neither our local NWS Forecast Office nor the Storm Prediction Center ever predicted that tens of millions of people would lose power as a result of the storm. If you choose to imbibe the drivel promulgated by unreliable sources, prepare to be disappointed by the accuracy of the prognostications you read (pray tell, how many meteorologists are on staff at the Daily Mail anyway?). But I am glad that the Metro North was running for you this morning, surely that means that the storm last night did not contribute to any notable flooding events in the state.
