Obama even called them thugs. People are still rioting. It's time for the national guard to use those rifles they're carrying around.

Business did not want to build in that section of town.
The city leaders bent over backwards to try to get business there and finally got a major business to say yes.
It was CVS.

I doubt CVS is going to rebuild.

I didn't think it was the gangs but rumor sure did make them bubble to the top.

Quite a few "activists" have been seen in Baltimore leading "protests". The same activists that showed up in Ferguson.

Has the National Guard been called in to reestablish order in Baltimore? I have seen some live footage but cannot tell what is happening as of now. It appears that things are now under control?

Yes, National Guard has been called in and there is now a curfew in place for tonight. State of emergency has been declared.

Baltimore Police arrest a known criminal and put him in the back of a van. The video I saw of them dragging him to the van appeared to show that he was unable to move at that time. I don't believe his spine was injured in the van. I could be wrong, but I will wait until the ME report comes out. For all we know he might have had a congenital vertebrae problem.

The person arrested dies and the populace gets angry, saying there is no reason for the cops to be going after black men the way they do. They start a peaceful protest, but that does not stay peaceful, because some young black men start acting un peaceful-like.

Now we have a chicken versus egg type argument. What came first, the people being treated like animals, or the people acting like animals? We all know this is not the first time for either case. The people acting like animals that want to stop being treated that way cannot control those that are treating them that way. The only thing they can do is stop acting like animals and hope that the peaceful protests win the day and show the bad element in the police a better way of doing things. Or they can just keep acting like animals and justify their treatment. Miracles can happen.

Is anyone else ashamed of the events in Baltimore?

I understand the people are angry. Of course there is a root issue. The unjustified murder of people in the hands of law enforcement (regardless of their skin color) needs to stop! But, I still cannot justify acting like thugs as a rationale. I cannot justify scoring free merchandise and food, setting cars on fire, and putting the safety of innocent people in danger to make a point.
