Actually, there has been: US Airways Express 5481. In the wake of that crash, the FAA revised the average passenger weight the airlines must use to calculate pre-flight weight and balance (a move with was overdue). https://www.nytimes.com/2003/05/13/u...increased.html

But that flight was a very small regional jet. On the large jets, the bulk of the weight is actually cargo and jet fuel; the passengers and passenger baggage make up much less of the total flight weight than most people think: CORE: Cargo vs. Passengers

On anything other than a very small aircraft, weighing individual passengers just isn't necessary for safety. But using an estimate of average passenger weight which is reasonably accurate is important.

It’s acknowledging reality. At least half the population is overweight and a thirds obese. That third is a lot of people. Keeping seat size as is sure isn’t disincentiving lol.

And of course we’re just shooting off here because the airlines have no intention of changing a thing. There’s not gonna be an end to situations like these just like I’ll need to continue to experience discomfort when someone needs to recline lol.

Sadly, what I think will end it is a mass fatality situation where a lot of people die because the excessively narrow seat pitch of 29" (which is what they use of the ultra-cheapo airlines like Spirit and RyanAir, and which the big airlines are creeping towards step by step) is later shown to have significantly hindered rapid evacuation of the plane. That's how most safety codes come into being. It never happens because the free market demands it, because it's not in the business's financial interest to do it and because the average person doesn't think about safety until it's too late. The Coocanut Grove Nightclub Fire is a perfect example (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoanut_Grove_fire).

She not only has a double chin, but look at the giant meat hooks she has for arms. And she's also got a wide load situation going on in her backyard.

:hurl:

It's hilarious how indignant and outraged you are that I insulted this shrew sow. Hmmmm. It's almost like it's not nice to insult strangers about their weight or body shape, no matter how badly or rudely they're behaving, huh?

But according to the Obesity Justice Warriors in this thread, it's perfectly fine to fat shame strangers in public if they do something rude. Some have even commented that it is "brave" to do that, and that this is how you get these fatsos to learn and keep their pie holes shut. I don't understand why you're so upset. I'm just doing what I learned in this thread.

So, I will say it again...Sally Salad Preacher of United Airline Coach Class is a Large Marge. She's queen sized. Maybe YOU think "20-30 lbs overweight isn't 'fat'" (your words), but I do think it's fat. As someone who's 5'3" and between 105-115 pounds depending on whether it's training season or Turkey eating season, I find those airplane seats to be no better than the bus seats on the commuter bus I take into Manhattan. You can try to push the narrative that these airplane seats are perfectly comfortable for "average" sized people all you want. If I had a Sally Meat Hooks sitting on either side of me, I'd feel claustrophobic, not only from her extra corpulence, but from all the unfortunate layers of dark clothing she's wearing, that she thinks is fashionable and 'slimming'. A lot of self proclaimed "average" sized people don't realize how much space they actually take up. There's a lot more elbow room when thin people are sitting in those seats. If these 20-30 pound overweight Fatty Pattys could just have the self discipline to make better choices about their diets, this wouldn't be an issue. Oh well, at least they keep me warm, though.

/sarcasm

See how that works? We can all be sanctimonious Aeroplane Salad Preachers.

However, being a New Yorker, 'The Blonde' delivered those much-deserved insults ever-so-coolly - totally unflappable. This is why I love New Yorkers. They can say the most unthinkable things, in the most offhand way.

I missed most of the conversation, because of all the saliva noises coming from one of the pigs. So, if anyone wants to post a transcript, I'd love to know exactly what was said (minus the smacking).
I hate to break it to you, but Sally Salads is not a "New Yorker". She is most certainly Jersey trash. I'm from NJ. I would know. Judging from the accent, she's not from South Jersey. Most likely North Jersey. Possibly Central Jersey. My guess is that she is probably a Bergen County varietal, or maybe Monmouth. You can probably spot her out in the wild, shopping for tunic tops and control top stretch pants at Chico's, and perhaps at a strip mall nail salon cackling about 'wine o'clock'.

The salad eater says 'F--K' at 2:20.

What is hilarious is that you people only see and hear what you want to see and hear.

Selective outrage.

...more like "f..k," wasn't it? I mean, you to really had to go back a few times to note the time, Sherlock. Otherwise, we'd have missed it.

If you can't hear the difference between her saying a barely audible word under her breath and not directed to anyone, and that bovine beast shouting profanities AT that woman, I just don't know what to say.

Your attempt to try to deflect from the audacity of two fatties so concerned with THEIR comfort that THEY won't sit together, encroaching on a someone else's space has failed.

So much rationalizing.

I like your use of bold to express your rage. I'm guessing you don't look too much different from this unfortunate person.
