In Lakewood people just don't care what or who you are, that's the thing I like about the area.

Not exactly Lakewood but not far away:

Investors buy up big chunk of Henderson Avenue retail district in East Dallas | Dallas-Fort Worth Commercial Real Estate News - Business News for Dallas, Texas - The Dallas Morning News

"CIM Group and Open Realty Advisors said they have bought 28 buildings with 130,000-square feet of retail, restaurant and commercial space along Henderson between North Central and Ross Avenue.

The new owners say they plan to continue to expand and improve the properties. Terms of the sale were not disclosed, but real estate brokers say that the properties likely sold for more than $50 million"

I'm waiting on Mount Vernon on White Rock Lake to sell for ~$29 million.

Lakewooder - Did you go to any of the homes on the Lakewood Home Tour this year?

That was the house the owner wanted to tear down, but was met by resistance from preservationists. I've met him, he probably wanted a more modern looking place.

I went first to Lakewood Elementary school for the crafts sale, then checked out the middle school's renovation, and then visited five of the homes on the tour.

Did you see the vintage 1933 Potter Art Metal Studios plaster light fixture they had on display in one of the classrooms from the auditorium? Nice, old, unique, ornate, heavy...something I'm glad they decided to save, re-work and reuse.
