Is anyone watching your LDL? Is it changing, getting higher?
Haven't checked in awhile but never heard or read of any instances of anyone's increasing on a controlled carb diet while losing weight. Triglyerides almost always drop as well as they seem to be more influenced by sugar intake. Blood pressure drops as you lose weight. Mine weren't that high to start with so don't really worry about it. There's really no reason they'd increase as fat consumption has little to do with cholesterol level. This is one reason there's never been a study showing someone's increased fat intake increasing bad cholesterol levels and why most attempts to lower cholestrol through low fat dieting fails. You couldn't eat enough or as little fat to change your cholestrol levels to any significant extent either direction, even if you wanted to. It's generally the result of liver function (which can be affected by such things as alchohol consumption and insulin production) and genetics both of which I've got in my favor. I also never smoked, which is a much bigger risk factor than any other. I had an EKG recently that showed my heart is perfectly healthy. When I get my next reading I'll let you know.
I should add to that though, the number of calories in the food consumed in general can affect your liver's cholesterol production much more than the carb/fat/protein ratios contained in those calories. One reason folks with bad cholestrol are often overweight or obese.
Slimfast is one of the systems I never tried. Seems like you could drink whey protein all day and a big meal at night and accomplish the same thing; there's nothing special (or healthy) about Slimfast.
Like CAVA I also eat moderate/reduced carbs and higher fat. Paticularly healthy for type Os.

My ex-brother-in-law was drinking Slim-Fast with his regular meals and wondered why he wasn't losing weight.

Slimfast might be new to your ear, but that would mean you're pretty young. It's been around for decades and was a HUGE dieting fad back in the 1980's and 1990's.
