Again, to reiterate, conservatives have wanted to maintain segregated public education ever since May 17, 1954. This is why axing Edu is Bachmann's goal.
This is silly. The school system is more segregated than ever because it stinks. People with the means to do so (largely whites and asians) flee to alternatives and isolate themselves in expensive zoned districts-- you know, those same districts the board of ed fights to maintain. But poor people are stuck with whatever garbage the government run schools want to serve them. The system is segregating itself. Anyone with fairness in mind should want to ax it in favor of parental choice.

Just ask the representatives who live in bad areas where they send their children.

You know who else choose (nice word, 'choice') to educate their kids in private schools in greater proportion than the general public? Unionized public school teachers, that's who!

Reason: Not 'overwhelmingly'.
There is no evidence as to where we came from in science, either.
While evolution, geology, astronomy, etc can't explain everything they at least have evidence to back up their claims while the same cannot be said about religion (and this is coming from a Catholic).
The basis of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism is the creation of everything by God or a creator.
Why deprive our children of the debate?
Well I guess I would need to hear your criteria for the basis of teaching these belief systems. If in a philosophy or religious studies setting, then maybe so, but if in a scientific classroom where the standards have been set and established for 400 years (scientific method), then I don't believe the teaching of these belief systems belongs there.
But that is a debate for another thread (for probably the millionth time haha).

There is just as much evidence of creationism as there is for us having been created by luck.
