David Lauter: It’s a balanced mix weighted to be representative of the population as a whole…

Megyn Kelly: How confident are you because of course your poll is an outlier?

David Lauter: Well, of course, we don’t have a crystal ball so you never really know. But this group at USC that is doing a poll with us they did the same technique four years ago and they produced a very accurate poll. They were one of the only polls that got President Obama’s reelection margin right. So we think they’re doing a good job.

If we see national polls tightening, remember that it usually takes state polls a few weeks to reflect that change.

True but we are in fact seeing the opposite, national polls on average show an increasing lead by Hillary, and state polls are starting to better reflect that lead.

Why?

You mean because of their pro-Republican bias?

Here are the CNN and NBC polls of the 2012 Presidential race from the final six weeks of that contest:

CNN, 11/02/12-11/04/-12 - TIE
NBC, 11/01/12-11/03/12 - OBAMA +1
NBC, 10/17/12-10/20-12 - TIE
CNN, 09/28/12-09/30/12 - OBAMA +3

Actual Election Result - OBAMA +4

RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - General Election: Romney vs. Obama

Takeaways - One was well within the MoE, while the other three were reasonable close but definitely off. Every single one of them showed Romney doing better than he did.

Of course, the perpetually-wrong Snowball7 has other excuses for whining about CNN and NBC...

Anyway, I hope Hillary Clinton is winning in the polls on election day,
that will help keep her voters home, thinking "we got this".
