Voters elected officials that are against abortion. If you're trying to make the argument that abortion wasn't on the ballot, then that is moot, because abortion is and has been illegal all along.
Killing children in the womb has been illegal the whole time. It's not complicated
Please explain how abortion was illegal during the 50 years Roe v Wade was in force and accepted nationwide.
Many other states have already had votes that establish how life begins at conception. Louisiana had a pro-life vote years ago where the right to life is protected. Whatever liberals politicians say that doesn't change what the Bible says about when life begins. And if you are in a state with a Christian majority then of course religion shapes people's stance on issues. In fact being pro-life is the only single issue that unites people in Louisiana across partisan and racial lines. Black and white voters differ significantly on basically every other issue (except maybe gun rights and supporting oil/gas) but nearly everyone is pro-life regardless of religious denomination whether one is from a predominantly white or black church.
How about we let the people of Indiana decide what they want?
Dream on, Dreamweaver. After what happened in Kansas, the Republican Indiana legislature sure as heck doesn't dare want Indiana citizens to vote on a thing related to abortion.

So, Tom Lennox 70, don't you quite passionately want all women who get abortions to be put to death because there is no doubt in your mind, whatsoever, that all abortion is all out murder? Who cares if she has kids at home? If so, at least hundreds of Texans are on your side. Indiana hasn't done enough!
Abortion is not just a "medical procedure". It is also the killing of an innocent unborn child. Did the child consent to being killed?
Abortion pushers always "forget" to take this factor into account when claiming they support choice.

The voters who elected the legislature included many pro choice people who did not elect them to do anything about abortion knowing they were constrained from doing anything by Roe.
