The UK is just one part of Europe.
What's up with that, eh? Too many American TV shows and too much American influence?

according to the constitution and the supreme court, the second amendment was not stated only for hunting purposes. They should restrict it only to the extent outlined within the constitution, any more and it is unconstitutional and against the rights of We the People

What did you come up with?

I rest my case.
Do you actually think you proved a point? Are you actually going to claim that the vast majority of serial killers and other wackos were NRA members and outspoken advocates of 2nd amendment rights? Prove it.

How do you deal with the fact that 99.9999% of gun owners never commit a violent crime? If guns caused crime, more gun owners would commit crimes.

America's crime problem more to to do with our "culture" and values. Consider the illegal drug impact. Over 40% of crime in the United States is drug-related. When you combine these things with America's gang problems, it's very clear to see where the majority of violent crime comes from. Commonly, there is a link between drugs and gangs. It has been proposed that drug legalization could eliminate a large percentage of crime in the U.S.

Banning guns has never been proven to have a consistent impact on crime. In some places it reduces crime and other places it increases crime. Statistically, one gets a poor cause-effect correlation by analyzing this data. This means that guns are not the key factor!

Here's an article that says it's tied to the economy not Obama. Still...

As economy sours, gun sales boom : News-Record.com : Greensboro, North Carolina
Sorry but the Supreme Court says we have the right to bare arms. It is because of the economy. People fear that the poor will try to rob them.

amploud,

I agree with with your stance on all but one point. As on one time recreational drug user (hey, I went to college) I do not see the relationship between legal drugs and illegal drugs and a reduction in crime. I actually think drug related crime is not so different than other crime. Wanting what someone else has (greed) will not change because something is legally available. Look at the crime in the banking industry and on Wall Street. I think you were right on your culture and values point. Our current culture, coupled with reduced values, is ripe with greed from the whitest of collars to the bluest of collars. In fact (although I have done no research on this), I am willing to bet white collar crime has a larger influence on the average American than gang related drug crimes (blue collar). Other than an occasional innocent by-stander (which is horrible), the drug related crimes are self policing. As bad as this sounds, one drug related shooting death reduces the problem by one.

A conservative leaning Supreme Court ruled ......commence firing!
DC's ban was in place over 30 years...it didn't work. Don't you realize that disarming citizens emboldens criminals who then feel they can get away with anything?

Burlington, etc. And no they aren't all for hunting. I know of quite a few people with machineguns, even one with a legally owned RPG (rocket propelled grenade). The second amendment is not about hunting. The dems should really shut up with the hunting bit on it because they just prove to us they're antis everytime they get on that nonsense.

Getting an assault rifle is like an investment, especially when Obama wins. He's going to make me so much richer He's probably going to make gold illegal to own, and that's when it'll really shoot up in value!

Investing with McCain at the helm is hard, because he changes his mind on what he's going to do. I won't interfere with the free markets...oh, wait...the gubmint will buy your mortgage. lol.

Well, he is going to give them more entitlements, so they no longer have to use guns and violence as a way to break into responsible citizens' homes and rip off our goods to sell on the black market. Since all of them will have freebie homes and bigger checks coming in, they won't have to steal things to fund their lifestyles.

It's the trickle down gun theory.
