Yep, really it's located not close to Brooklyn. Have you met russians there?
I've been there like...once.
I had to find some people and the first mistake I made ( apparently) was to ask some girls on the street for that address in English ( I was on autopilot you see...)They gave me a look and that's when I've heard "No speak English." Then I've noticed that all street names were in Russian. Then after founding the people I had to find I went to the Brighton Beach and the chorus of babushkas sitting on the near-by bench told me that I had to put panama on my child's head and showed it with gestures ( just in case I couldn't understand them.) I'm telling you - I couldn't wait to get heck out of there. It was like this;

Brighton beach, NY - I'm back into the USSR - YouTube

or this

Russian Rick Ross Music Video at Rasputin - Brighton Beach Show Russian Dolls- Chrysler 300C Limo - YouTube

and that's the cherry on the cake to get the whole picture.

'Queen Grandmother' crowned in Brighton Beach pageant - YouTube

Nope, thanks.

If I had to pick a place to live in the US, would choose California or Florida. We also have cold weather sometimes, and snow is rare here, but possible.
If I had my way, I'd stay in Seattle; in Florida I've heard the huge bugs are falling on your head and then they have alligators down there. Plus I've always thought that Caucasus had high level of humidity comparably to Moscow, but it turned to be out nothing comparably to the US. In the US you simply can't survive without the air-conditioner; in Caucasus it's not a problem.

The most amazing for me is nature of Sochi district, as well the waterfalls and rainforests in the mountains, nowhere in Russia you can't see places like that:
You know, I thought that your neck of woods/Southern Russia looked more like Ukraine; but where you live, it already looks like Caucasus, really. Practically same as Gagra where I've spent a lot of time, just bigger and better infrastructure of course comparably to Caucasus.

I didn't expect that you'll like it, just I posted an example of the popular videos among the people 30<.
I've checked more of Serebro videos - one of them is downright porn, the rest are getting there.
They wouldn't be acceptable by Western standards - I can tell you that much)))
( Their music ( and scandalous style) reminds me of TATU though, so I can understand why they are popular.)

Since as I've mentioned for the most part I avoid contemporary Russian movies ( and the kind you are looking for were without subtitles and I didn't like them,) check out Youtube here - may be you'll find something you are looking for.

( I see that one of the movies Bartonfly mentioned here (Elki) is there as well.)

Andre, it will be more difficult to find Russian movies with French subtitles, because overall the popularity of French language in Russia is on decline ( comparably to Soviet times) as far as I know, and my mother even mentioned to me that they've had hard time to find enough of French-Russian interpreters lately in Moscow ( hope she knows what she is talking about.)
There is still of course a die-hard number of Russians who are tuned specifically to French culture/language ( plus Russian immigration to France/Belgium,) and I see that they are looking for the same thing as you on-line, in order to share those movies with their French-speaking friends/ family members.
Interestingly enough however, they seem to be searching for older, Soviet-made movies, and to me it's a sign that the quality of Russian movies is on decline.
But I'll keep on checking what I can find for you.

What are most Russian women like?

Are the beauties that are really dressed up and seem materialistic or attracted to beefy tattooed guys or rich foreign men the minority?

Some are like what you described. Others are down-to-earth regular gals. btw, "really dressed up" means black spandex micro-mini skirts that barely covers the essentials, and are inadequate if the girls move much or bend. Others wear "normal" clothes, i.e. longer skirts, office attire/suits to work, simple dresses on weekends. Some wear pants or jeans. Italian fashion is big with those who can afford it. And it's cheaper in Russia than in the West, because it's sold in public markets--low overhead, so a much lower mark-up in price.

Interesting. I think the whole idea of rich foreign men looking for beautiful Russian women who are often thought to only be in it for the money sort of ruins the perception of Russian women, like say Thai women. I'm sure most Russian women are 'normal.' I'm a bit suspicious of anyone who makes blanket statements like 'American women are no good' or 'Russian men are no good.'

Check out the video of Paul McCarney's concert on Red Square back in the late 90's. I think you can see the whole thing on youtube, but it's also available commercially. Whenever they pan the cameras over the audience, you can see a lot of regular Russian women. Actually, half of them look Swedish, and a bit above average. But anyway, you can see them wearing just regular clothes.

The styles in Moscow are more contemporary than in the more distant regions, very generally speaking. Russia's a big place, you know. But those short black spandex skirts are ubiquitous; everywhere you go there's a percentage of girls wearing those, including Asian girls in some of the regions.

Postman, it's not easy to speak in terms of minority/majority in this case, because Russia is a class society - always has been and always will be.
"The beefy tattoed guys" probably changed their looks somewhat, but the criminal underworld in Russia was always a big part of Russian history ( Soviet times including) and they've always had their own type of women catering to them. The women who cater to "rich foreign men" is a more recent phenomenon, which probably goes back to Soviet times, and so this is yet another type.
Then you have your Russian intelligentsia, which is from the different world and of different standards all together, and then you have "simple folks" which is again a different type of women.
I have a feeling sometimes that all Russians have some kind of antennas built on top of their heads, because you need to navigate your way through your own compatriots, in order to be in the right bracket and to recognize people from your own group. ( Money often don't have anything to do with it, unlike in the US.)
One thing however I see that's often different in Russian culture when it comes to women, comparably, say, to American culture, is that in Russia, ( if we exclude intelligentsia class and certain type of women from the lower ladder) women don't mind being objectified unlike in Western cultures, and often see their value this way ( you'll find them most likely among the girl-friends of tattooed guys or those who are looking for rich foreigners/rich Russians.) I think again it's a more recent phenomena, because women's life throughout Soviet times was so harsh, they've had to pull so much weight with wars, revolution, full time shifts at factories, construction works and so on, and at that raising children was mostly their responsibility, that once the system has been changed, and the new rules of game came in place, that's when the pendulum swung the other way.

The ones who don't mind being objectified are pretty obvious, by the way they dress. The women I know personally, I suppose you could put most of them in the intelligentsia "class"; many like to look elegant for work, but they certainly wouldn't want to be objectified. Rather, they expect to be taken seriously in their careers. Those who aren't in the intelligentsia, but are ordinary office workers or culture workers also wouldn't want to be objectified. I think the Soviet system did women a favor in this respect; women had careers (not that they had any choice...), and generally were taken seriously on the job. Even women factory workers or farm workers could get promotions and become supervisors. So many still expect that type of treatment.

Ordinary office workers or culture workers as a rule are part of intelligentsia.
