White, black, etc. Are artificial grouping... There are a lots of variations in how people look in various places but there are not strictly defined groups of humans, or so-called 'races'. We all are within a continuum of physical variations, without strict limits.
For many northern and central Europeans no, southern europeans are not whites, the same as in the US during the XIX century and the first half of the XX.
These numbers do not truly reflect the sheer magnitude of ethnic diversity in many places. Immigration among EU countries is pretty much unrestricted, so for every non-Euro immigrant, there are many more European immigrants. On my typical commute, I will hear Polish, Turkish, Russian, Hungarian, etc.

Have you considered the fact that perhaps the immigration problem of Sweden is not endemic to the vast majority of western countries? No offence to your country, but you seem to be doing something wrong. Whereas most western countries take in immigrants based on personal merit, it seems like Sweden just opens up borders to any asylum seeker with no regard to how they will contribute or integrate into society. How are you defining "European"? Are Hispanics "European"? Are Mexican-Americans "European", and what about the rest of the immigration from Latin America, what category/ies do they fall into? How are you arriving at that 55% figure?

It's generally the reverse, I thought. In Texas, for example, I'm classified as white due to being hispanic despite being mixed-race.

Texas is not White America (at least the southern half), compared to my lily white state. In my region, most people are of German and British descent, and the most common response I get while working in hospital from people are, "I didn't know you could speak Spanish. I thought you were white!"
There is no way in hell portugal is 98.5% white/ethnic portuguese, whatever you want to call it, most of the country is indeed over 99% ethnic Portuguese but Lisbon skews the data.
We have at least 500.000 blacks/mixed-race people plus 100.000 gypsies plus 100.000 asians of different ethnicities, it's just that many of them have Portuguese nationality.
I would say more like 94/95%

Most Turks are Indo-Europeans, and therefore: White. In the US, Lebanese, Palestinians and Israelis are considered "White". Italians, Spaniards, and Portugese are Europeans, and therefore "White". Serbs, Croats, Montenegrins, Bosnians, Slovenes, Macedonians, Greeks, Albanians and Kosovars are Europeans, and therefore "White".
What's your definition of "White"? Anyone from a Germanic or Balt background? What about Slavs? What about south Slavs? What about Georgians, Armenians, Circassians, Alans, and Ossetians? And Ingrians, Veps, Komi, Mari and Mordvins? If they're not White, why not? Let's see your criteria. Surely you've given this ample thought, since you felt it was important enough to create a thread about.
And while we're at it, what about the Sami? What about blond Sami (1/2 Norwegian or Swedish and half Sami)? What about blond Kazakhs?
