430 dead and wounded in Mariupol in 2 days of fighting? Those casualties are rather high by modern standards. That's a higher ratio than at any point of the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, even the unusually bloody battle for Fallujah in 2004 dident produce casualty figures like this ...

I'm using "translator ru." and tweak it a bit, in order to describe the situation - what led to it all;
"In Mariupol the agreement with local militia was reached - rebels don't bear arms, the militia — doesn't disperse the crowds. It was the oral arrangement after the tragedy that took place earlier, and this agreement has been uphold till resent events..
Staff of militia of Mariupol on the eve of May 9, 2014 has been gathered for the meeting, and the chief of the Department of Internal Affairs Androshchuk announced a task to provide security during march and mass meeting in the city in honor of a Victory Day. Soon after conversation with Lyashko,( deputy of Svoboda party in Rada?) in Kiev, Androshchuk announced to the staff that the situation changed and the new task is going to take place. According to the directives coming from Kiev,the police staff of Mariupol has been informed that according to available information, there was going to be numerous "provocateurs" participating in event. The police was ordered to take measures and to detain participants. In case of any resistance the order was given to shoot without warning. This Androshchuk gave the order to his stuff to use force against peaceful citizens.
Employees of militia of Mariupol notified their chief that they won't follow the criminal order and they will side with the people. In reply the chief of militia pulled out a gun and shoot at one of the subordinates, having seriously wounded him. The policemen revolted, Androshchuk barricaded himself in one of offices of the building of the Department of Internal Affairs and called the national guard for help. Those quickly arrived and began the attack. This time around the national guard came already after the Mariupol police.
Staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was declared traitors and became a target for national guard. They were blocked in the building of the Department of Internal Affairs of the city and were shot not only from handguns, but also from grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and fighting vehicles of a landing. By the time of this attack the city streets were full of civilians who took part in march of the Victory Day. The national guard was shooting unarmed civilians, not allowing anyone to come near the building of the Department of Internal Affairs.
During attack of the building from armored machinery and from grenade launchers, the building of the Department of Internal Affairs of Mariupol was set on fire. The policemen were in the building at that time, women including. The building was engulfed by fire from first on the third floors. People broke the in the windows of the first allowing the policemen to escape the fire. They were rescued as well from the third floor through the fire-escape. Citizens blocked the exit and didn't allow three allow to take away three captured defenders. The national guard troops were forced to let them go in order to avoid confrontation with the mass of unarmed people were compelled them to release the captured hostages. Firefighters who were not allowed to approach the burning building by the National guard for long time, have finally put out the fire. There are indications that the fire truck has been "allowed" to approach the building only in few hours, as in similar situation in Odessa..."
Then Mariupol asked for help from Donetsk.
They've got help and then some more.
What they are talking about here, is that as the result of this military operation in Slavyansk, the so-called "National guard" hired by Kiev ( and which is recruited for the most part from the nationalist forces," sustained heavy losses - 240 wounded and killed.
They go through the list of them and this is what I am paying attention to the most;
120 members of "Pravy sector" ( as I've already mentioned the "National Guard" is comprised of them for the most part,)
..."Alpha" ( coming mostly from Western/Central parts of the country) - 60 people
...10 mercenaries (Polish "ASBS Othago") lost 3 people, American Greystone lost 7.
( They keep on verifying the numbers.)
And they are digging the graves now. Literally.
Based on insider information Slavyansk people have combat experience. They are not regular army. They are residents of eastern Ukraine and their friends from the Crimea, Russia and other former Soviet states. Mostly former military. And they captured the good weapons. They say that the city is well fortified. So I do not know how many people died on the part of Kiev government, but I think that these numbers are similar to the truth.
And by the way, they do not receive their orders from Putin.
Organizers and active participants in the massacres was the party leadership "UDAR"(Vitali Klitschko) and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Perpetrators of the crime - the team of Edward Hurwitz, which presidential candidate Poroshenko and businessman Igor Kolomoisky promised high office in Odessa.

Let's face it. Putin has outplayed the West in this new age of propaganda war. It's just pathetic that the Western countries all use the pretense of freedom and self determination to support local uprisings against governments that the West hates, and yet, when the same argument is made in places where their friendly governments are under threat, they call it "illegal". Yeah, right.. Try something else.
Russia proves one thing....a charismatic strongman who actually knows how to use the information age for his own propaganda agenda is unbeatable, even as he rules a country with very limited economic future like Russia (only a great power due to resource export).
I predict a result of at least 98% in favour of whatever the terrorists pursue, just to top the result of Crimea.

And an interesting news. Deputy of Rada Lyashko was captured in Mariupol. He is accused in kidnapping two teenagers 11-12 years old from Crimea.
