That's where you're wrong. The operation was preceded by attempts to negotiate with Zelensky. Who ignored everything. And negotiations and phone calls. In general, complete disregard.
The last warning was also sent, which was also ignored. And instead, the shelling of Donbass was intensified, including heavy weapons, and most of the Ukrainian army was sent to Donbass. And all this. after the recognition of the republics and the signing of the treaty on protection and cooperation.
Do you think it was possible to avoid a conflict ?

I'm just surprised why such conclusions are being made without thoroughly studying the issue,

OK you got me. Russia is just as good as Ukraine. Congratulations. Or maybe not. Putin's army is having trouble overrunning a much smaller country. Why is that?

Putin is a bully and he knows it, and since there is no easy victory in sight he has used nuclear weapon blackmail because he is not getting what he wants. As the war drags on and more and more Russian troops die and are injured, and bodies sent back to their families as well as the disabled Russians who lost legs, arms, etc opposition to Putin in Russia will grow. But he has threatened the world with nuclear war. I bet even Switzerland and Finland are now targets of Russia nuclear bombers, even though they have never been part of NATO because they support Ukraine and giving them assistance.

Putin was never supposed to "talk to Ukrainian leader" regarding Donbass.

The "Ukrainian leader" was supposed to talk directly to the leaders of the DNR ( that was assassinated with the help of the foreign intelligence service, an obviously replaced) and LNR.

Zelensky kept on insisting that they were "Russian puppets" and Putin politely let him know that Zelensky himself is a Washington's puppet, so this logically speaking should be his level of negotiations, if he considers the heads of the DNR and LNR "Russian puppets."

But Putin didn't mind meeting with him on all the other issues and invited him to Moscow.
Zelensky declined.

Because the Nationalists there hold civilians hostage in many cities.
That's why.

No, no, no, don't slip off the topic. What has Ukraine built in 30 years ?

And on the second point.. Is this such exquisite hypocrisy on your part? I don't understand. We don't act like Americans. Here is the city of Raqqa, as it looked after its liberation by the US army. It was much faster and more efficient.

Would you like the Russians to act the same way? The fact that CNN and others would be happy with this picture. But there is no such picture, so it is difficult for them to work. And in the Donbas, they don't want to see it in any way.I understand.

Oh, I thought you were bored and going to bed? What has Ukraine built in 30 years? The same things you have built since 1917, which is nothing. Happy? And a nice big sarcophagus in Chernobyl, only the sarcophagus was provided by the West thanks to Russian incompetence in both building the power plant and preventing a disaster.

Neither the Americans nor the British have absolutely no moral right to accuse Russia of anything. Nations that, in their entire history, have destroyed MILLIONS of people all over the planet, who have destroyed to the ground thousands of cities, whose hands are up to the elbows in blood. You MUST sit quietly in your corner and be silent in a rag while Russia cleans up after you the crap that you spilled in Ukraine.

It is like a bloody serial killer scolding a boy scout for a squashed fly. Since its unfortunate inception Muscovy stands for treachery, barbarity and mass murder, what else one can expect from Mongol' bastard child?
