The "motive" is simple; Russia, pursuing its own geopolitical interests impedes the US effort to rule over the world.

It was Lukashenka who was the most worried about that the Russians may not go home.

Lol. Russia is a dwarf in every other way but militarily. Russia is unable to "impede" anything but in Putin's wildest dreams.

Like American soldiers. I read a opinion of Russian soldier who met with American soldiers in Iraq. He had a very high opinion of a American soldiers. Endurant, calm, well-trained. Good soldiers.

Russia is building new cosmodrome, space rockets, satellites, huge nuclear icebreakers, large bridges, good military equipment, nuclear reactors, exports grain, oil, gas, metals, removes steep music videos, has top modern literature and much more. But still it is a dwarf for the Finns. It is interesting.

Not descruction in the Hitler-like sense but "westernization"...which is synonymous with destructoin, yet not the exact same thing. The goal is to have american soldiers in their own bases in russia, Affirmative Action, terrorism, censorship etc.

Russia is a very powerful country. The West hates Russia mostly cause Russia is not Ukraine and doesn't bend over for American corporations

The US has no desire to rule over the world. We protect half the world from threats (legacy of the USSR threatening to conquer the world through fake communist revolutions) but all we want to do is spread stability (democracy) and make money through legit commerce (which requires rule of law). That's a direct threat to the mafia style/ authoritarian model of government so the countries which feel threatened by us are run this way.

The fact is, people have the best life where our system has spread. From Taiwan to Italy. Japan to Finland... I'm not saying its only the US which created this system but we protected it from the Soviets so its kind of our world order now. The reason former Warsaw Pact countries lean to the west is once they are run by their people, they tend to vote for the better life that our system brings. We don't have to bribe anyone or conquer anyone with a military. Again, a threat to Mr. Putin because he doesn't bring a better life to the majority of Russians and he knows it. His system is inferior to the EU so the Ukraine crisis is really a reflection of his inability to compete with it.

Russia has got endless potential, I wish it would be more prosperous. Growing at the same pace as China.

In a way, because of its isolation from the rest of the world and because there aren't a lot of immigrants living in Russia (of non-European background), Russia is deemed the last European border.

Only in military sense. It has an economy the size of Australia, it has completely dropped off the boat in both high and conventional technology (except maybe nuclear and space), has no soft (cultural) power and its only friends are some obscure Stans, Cuba, Venezuela and Syria.
