It depends on your age. Young guys who wear socks and shoes most of the time have pretty nice looking feet. My husband wore leather thong sandals in very casual situations (yard party), Tivas when his feet were going to get wet, and something with a bit more coverage on the street.
Guys have feet. I'm not sure why they're supposed to hide them.
I am a girl and I like it better when men wear socks, yes even socks with sandals.
go with what is comfortable for you
also if someone who loves you is critical of how you dress it is not kind; if I have a boyfriend who has quirks or oddities to his dress, I love that about him, it is what makes him who he is
if he asks me "which do you like better" I might pick, but in general I say to him go with what you like best or is most comfortable; she needs to love you for who you are, not try to make you into someone else
Hi OP,
I'm tanned up all over the place type guy, the Jersey shore, the boat, athletics always being outside, I wear my boots with dark blue jeans, or dressed sharp on the weekends or when need to be, but for the most part, I wear old school wrap around canvas tennis sneakers without socks all the time and flip flops around the house or on the deck, shoot- I don't even like my boxer briefs (sorry about that) if I don't have to, lol. After this weekend, I have to be civilized again, wearing socks with sandals is like wearing gold, you'll look like your Dad or grandfather faster then a jack rabbit on a date or a bennie on Vacation. lol. just saying. That's just me, brother, wear the stuff that's comfortable and that you like and roll with it, make your gf happy in other ways, know what I mean ?
I tend to wear socks all the time, when not in bed, even in the summer. My girlfriend asked me why and I didn't have a good answer. I mainly do it out of habit.
In general she prefers to go barefoot all the time and suggested that I try it. So I did. My tennis shoes don't feel good without socks so she picked me out some nice sandals and said they look good on me. She suggested that I wear them to a BBQ we went to the other day but I was a bit embarrassed mainly because I have a sock tan lol (legs are tanned but not feet). She said I need to get some sun there.
I have to admit it's more comfortable going sockless but is this really a good look for a guy?
Saying that I shouldn't wear socks in the summer is like saying I shouldn't wear t-shirts in the winter. My answer would be why not? Nothing wrong with it
Just my two cents here, but I don't think it's ever a good look for guys. Feet are absolutely disgusting, especially men's feet. I'm always grateful when I'm out and about to see people wearing shoes, and I always extend the same courtesy. That's just me though. I'm weird like that I guess. In any case, whatever you decide works/looks best for you is the right call, and I say more power to you.
I live in Pensacola and I really think there are guys here who only have flip flops. When we go out to eat way over half the men are wearing flip flops or leather sandals. And the few who do wear shoes are not wearing socks. Just depends on what you are used to.
I read some of the posts and here is my take on this.
I am 50 live in a coastal city in Southern California. When I was a kid in the summer I lived without shoes. Most of the time my parents did not even buy shoes untill the school year was starting. Life on the sand. What can I say.
My normal routine has been for the past 30 + years at least, or working life as an adult, as soon as I was home I was out of the shoes and socks and had my flip flops on and we used to call them thongs way back when before some other clothing item stole the name. LOL Most of the time I can not even stand to drive with shoes on. I have been driving shoe less since I was 16. My flip flops would be in the car, but not on my feet.
I remember one time wanting to go out but it was allready kind of late. I decided to head on over to my club and check out the scene. When the band was on break we were outside talking. One of them said, so you came in your house shoes. I laughed. Did not plan on dressing up that night, just wanted to be a part of the fun for a little bit. LOL
Actually podiatrists recommend you go BAREFOOT as often as possible.
Its so hot where I live, thongs are mandatory, to heck with hairy toes...EVERYONES got em.
You actually learn NOT TO LOOK.
