No,not too "young".For around the house and yard on a chilly day they would be ok.But I would not wear them out in public all the time.

OP...as long as your pants, be they sweat pants or not, are clean and neat, wear what the heck you want. You can look bad in a pair of jeans if the jeans are ratty looking and unclean, etc.
Goodness gracious. Be yourself. If you like sweats, wear them honey.
Dont worry what the chickens standing around clucking may say. They should be minding their business. Anyone... say, in a coffee shop, that focuses too much interest in the fact that you are wearing sweatpants, needs to get a life. Seriously.

It depends on the type of sweatpants. I have a few pairs of Addidas sweats that I wear when Im not in shorts. I'll wear them to Starbucks, casual dinner, to the park, etc. I would NOT wear the plain old generic drawstring sweats with the elastic (or whatever its called) around the ankles. Those are just maybe for hanging out around the house (when its cold). Actually, I dont even own a pair of those.

Those are the best when it's cold. They allow me to not put the heat on a bit longer.

Do they even still make those? Most sweatpants have an open leg/ankle thing going on now and you can barely tell they aren't regular pants.

I wear sweatpants around the house and for sleep when its cold.
My husband has those sweatpants with the elastic around the ankle. He wears them doing yard work.In the past he would go out shopping with them on-no more-too sloppy looking.
When we go out together I just tell him to put his jeans on-there just as comfy.

Sophialee - Yes they still do have the sweatpants with the elastic ankles and strings around the waist (though my sweatshirt usually covers them). These type of sweatpants are the kind I wear. They are clean, not form-fitting and solid color. You can find them in Wal-Mart or K-Mart.
Anyway, I wear my sweatpants around the house, to my morning jolt at Starbucks, casual dinners. I know enough NOT to wear them on dates, fancy restaurants nor weddings. On those situations I dress more formally. However, I just wanted to know if other 30 year olds wear sweatpants around the house or other casual settings. I just do not want people talking about me behind my back.

I'm 39 and my favorite store in the world is the Adidas store. I have lots of matching tops and pants and jackets that look great when worn together. My wife and I enjoy fine dinning and of course never wear that kind of thing in that environment. But out and about on my days off, absoloutley.
I think the key to not making yourself look cheesy in sweat pants is wearing an athletic looking top along with them. And I don't mean some grungy looking sweatshirt. Someone mentioned out of shape men wearing them and that does look like hell. I have a size 32 waste so I have an athletic look to me to begin with.
