Are sweats considered too "young" of a clothing style to be worn by 30 year old men? As long as they are nice, clean and not sloppy is it still considered OK to wear casually? Just around the house, to the coffee shop or going shopping is OK? Or do most men outgrow sweats after they leave college?
I'm of the opinion that sweatpants should not leave the house. They're maybe okay for a quick errand, but generally not as part of an outfit you wear in public on purpose.

Sweatpants are more than fine for married 30 year olds who don't give a hoot anymore. If you have managed to stay in shape out to 30, sweatpants are no problem for any man. However, if the sweatpants serve to accentuate a distinct apple/pear shape, showcase the gluteal cleft or create the appearance of a "moose-knuckle" then etiquette dictates consideration of others over the comfort afforded thereby.
Athletic clothing can look anywhere from very nice, to ghetto, to sloppy, to disgusting. It depends on the type of athletic clothing, and the general appearance of the person.
As long as they're clean, not smelly, and don't look sloppy, no one will care. If they have stains and you throw on a wife beater or some other sloppy T-shirt, then don't do it.

I suppose there is nothing wrong with sweatpants. I typically associate sweatpants and other athletic apparel with body odor and sweat stains. 9/10 times Ive seen them, sweatpants appear sloppy, unclean, ill fitted, faded and or tattered. Ive actually never worn sweatpants before. The closest Ive come to sweatpants have been windsuits.
Don't start down that road! You can find tons of pants that are just as comfy that don't look like sweats. I dont think it has anything to do with being 30 either. Look for some nice soft corduroy pants with room to move. It will be just as comfy and look a million times better.
