Thanks guys. I have seen my sister eat sushi - the round cake looking ones with rice in the middle. She puts the wasabi (it's green, so I think that is what it is)on the top and puts the entire thing in her mouth. She says the wasabi hits the roof of the mouth and is not hot, just gives the most wonderful sensation. Is this true, or is she setting me up??? LOL

I'm still laughing. My sister has done some crazy things to me too! If you do try it this please use very little of the wasabi. It does have a wonderful flavor and the sensation is great...but it is hot! HOT!! A little goes a long way. I have never personally had it the way your sister eats it. I prefer it with my soy sauce and use it for dipping the sushi. I love horseradish and wasabi and yes elston is correct the effects are similar not at all like hot sauce or hot peppers..different.

That sounds like some stunt my hubby would pull. He Loves hot stuff. Me not so much. He made me try some wasabi once and I was guzzelling water for hours, I kid you not.
Love wasabi. Ever try wasabi peas? They're dry roasted peas with wasabi powder, crunchy snack food. Not as intense or flavorful as the sushi stuff (which I'm told isn't even 'real' wasabi) but they're still good.
Tonight - Roast beef. A London Broil round cut. Broccoli and mashed potatoes with parsnips and horseradish.
Out with the shrimp idea...DH has been cooking a pork roast all day in root beer for pulled pork. We just tasted it and it is wonderful! As I type he is shredding it. We will have the pulled pork, mashed potatoes some of my homemade applesauce from the freezer and fresh brussel sprouts. The house has smelled so good all day and I have been hungry all day just smelling it cook! We had a little container of that sauce from TGI Friday's their Jack Daniels sauce and put a little on some of the pork...thought I had died and gone to heaven! Yummy!
