Mine are weird. I have a dwarf white at the front of the side yard, and from what I understand, a rather rare one with deep pink buds which fade through all shades of pink to white. The neighbors still have flowers.

My Knockout rose in the front mixed shrub border started blooming a few days ago, so I'm not completely without color.

Here in NE Texas, my roses are gearing up for their second round of rose extravaganza!

My flags are now blooming. The ajuga is spreading nicely. The hydrangeas are just about in full force.

I LOVE May in Texas! March through May and even into June is great, but I have to admit that July through September is hot hot hot. Of course, our mild winters are nice too, but we do get ice and even snow occasionally, especially in Jan and February.

I always have to make myself NOT plant things when we have a warm spell in February because I know it's going to freeze again but dang it, it feels so good!

Know exactly what you mean about being ready to plant before the season really begins...

Your area of Tx sounds like a lovely place to live. May and June are great here too.

Hydrangea and oak-leaf hydrangea. Next up, daylilies and crape myrtles. They're both budding.

First time I've ever seen one of these was on Tuesday while running some errands. Like you, I'm saying to myself, what in the heck is that!?
