Point and Leinie are 2 great mainstream regional beers. I don't understand why people buy Miller when they can get Point or Leinie for the same price. Personal preference, I guess!
When I want a good local brew here in St Paul, I'll order Summit ESB or Surly.
Leinie I'd agree with. I order Point all the time, too, but view it on the same page as Old Style or PBR. Decent, cheap beer. There's something about Leinenkugel, though, that I really, really like.
I I've heard Carroll County drink like men.
For some reason I think bars around DC don't carry as much Coors Light (don't know about Baltimore). In College Park the Coors always runs out first but they always have MIller and Bud all thru the night.
Um....the words 'drink like men' and Coors Light should never be used in conjunction.
I see a lot of Yuengling here in VA, but I'm a PA transplant, so maybe I just notice it more. It's also my favorite mainstream beer so perhaps I'm biased. Corona always seems to be on display in the local stores also, probably because of the large Hispanic population here.
You do see the big national brands here (Bud, Miller, Coors) but seemingly not as much as the slightly more upscale ones like Yuengling, Corona, and Sam Adams.
Bud, Miller, and Coors will always have a stronghold in rural areas though.
Here in town we have 2 private brewers. Mia & Pia's and the Creamery. They make all sorts of fun stuff. Seasonal brews that make you look forward to "next year".
The Captial Brewery and New Glarus Brewing Co. are great locals that are pretty ubiquitous in Madison. New Glarus has great names for their beers: Spotted Cow, Fat Squirrel, Yokel (Buy Local, Drink Yokel!), among others, and I haven't tried a variety I didn't like. Capital is pretty awesome too.

Haha, I can definitely relate. I'm also from PA but living in DC for school, and I'm always on the lookout for Yuengling. I'm so glad they've expanded their market!
