Parksbury Sparks is an archetype Roxbury youth. Probably more common in years past. But he talk about influences growing up in Boston when there were few and his own experiences/process in writing.
New York influences; Dipset, G-unit and Joey Bada$$.
That kids accent is strong as h*ll, haha. is that a typical roxbury accent? None of the guys in the previous interview had any noticeable accent.
He shouted out PoleboyD Rose, is he from the same section of the city? I think I posted a video of his before.
Naw Poleboy D Rose is from Columbia Road/Geneva which is in Dorchester, close to Roxbury though...but generally a more active area than St. James/Canada Park. A larger/busier area in general. St. James is sort of on a hill somewhat secluded in between St. Josephs and Nubian Square. Thye were in lock-up in DYS together.
Parksbury is a multigenartional Balck American from Roxbury. It is a heavily African American part of Roxbury, the accent he has is common in that circle and that area.
Shayk Hanif, Bori Rock, Dun Dealy are all 2nd/3rd generation people of various ethnicities. Roxbury is less global than Dorchester in general. However, Shayk Hanif is from the South End.
7:55-8:55 of this video is more classic Boston/Roxbury Accent and slang
Not gonna lie, it's all lit. The thing is between that and someone like Shordie is that I think he appeals to a larger audience. The content posted above is more of that regional "thuggin" music so that's forsure not getting much "aux cord" or bluetooth play in say like California.
Every region/area has their own thug rap so people are going to play what's homegrown to them.
Shordie otoh appeals with the club style music so it's going to be more "liked" by people in all parts of the country.
Only exceptions I've seen so far with the thug music being "mainstream" in Southern California are the Chicago (lil durk), Detroit and Memphis thug rap, especially Detroit for some reason get alot of car play, and a little bit of Mo3 (Dallas).
Like I know forsure nobody in Boston or Baltimore is playing that local Compton stuff I posted on the previous pages lol. Except maybe YG, because he's mainstream.
