I Drove past the construction site the other day, they have done more digging and cleared up most of the shrubbery, because as GSOcitizen said prior, at one point it really did look like a small jungle with overgrown grass and weeds.

Oh yes definitely, i got some pictures of the clean up the other night:

There were grass patches left that night and when i drove by today all the grass was gone. Before it was just trees, weeds and wild grass. I also noticed a big increase in construction vehicles.

Why is it that downtown construction is slower than the rest of the city? Construction on Project Slugger began a little more than a month ago. The foundation has been in for a while yet not one steel beam for the first floor has been put in place. Yet construction on the engineering school at North Carolina A&T began after Slugger and construction has already made it to the third floor. The Hampton Inn has also been slow compared to other multistory buildings elsewhere in the city. I don't even want to talk about Carroll at Bellemeade where they are still finishing up an apartment building. The Westin is like the Performing Arts Center was where it's taking forever just to begin construction.
