SO surprised me with replaced light switches in the walk through master closet. Motion activated to turn the daylight fixtures on/off. No more cat-people-walk aka shuffling to avoid one of the whiskered road blocks or hitting a switch with an elbow when I have two hands full. Plus they do not set them off. But now I see additional room mates - dust bunnies.
Soft close toilet seat and lid. We replaced our toilet. It was a cheap made in China brand we couldn’t get working replacement parts for. Went with American Standard. We didn’t know it came with soft close seat and lid. You ever have the seat or lid slip from your hand and slam with a loud thunk in the middle of the night or while others are sleeping? This is a must have. They sell these seats separately at various stores.

In our house of horrors (two kids, one pre-teen, one early teen), I switched everything I could to soft close a couple of years ago. You're so so so right about the toilet seat!!
We did kitchen cabinet hinges as well, even going with the soft close on pocket doors (which I think is an absolute no-brainer for a pocket door). My blood pressure can't take all of these hormonal turds roaming around my house AND slamming of things as a result!
Yes, I love my kids, very much. But they're still hormonal turds when they don't get their way!

A must you only know once you have them! Add a doorstop per or felt point to the tank. No more thump in the middle of the night.
We bought a new LG TV which is mounted on the wall. And DH bought himself a Stressless Ekornes recliner, to replace our old LaZBoy that had seen better days. We need to buy a new side table for it, and I have my eye on one from Room & Board.
We had the old chair hauled off and gave the old table away.
I don't know if it works yet, but I received a "family" gift this year: a big knife sharpening grindstone wheel with all the attachments to hold the knife at just the correct angle.
I'm looking forward to having sharp kitchen knifes.
I just bought a new mini-fridge for the bar area of my kitchen -- I've been using a black Haier one but wanted to add some color to the room. I've been eying the Magic Chef mini-fridge in mint green for several months now, but was not willing to pay $280. I happened to be browsing the Home Depot site on New Year's Eve and saw that the fridge -- which is this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Magic-Ch...een-HMCR320ME/ -- was now on sale for $168. It's due to be delivered this coming Friday 1/7/22 ...
The cabinets in my bar area are a very deep brown ...
... so the fridge should look great with them (I hope!). It will go in that open area just under the counter (which obviously wasn't installed yet when I took this picture!). It will be fun to have a pop of color on that wall.

So cute - and who doesn't love a good sale on something you have your eye on!
Sooooo....Excited!! Mentioned to ( Santa) that I wanted a Sideboard for my dining area. Wanted it to be Multi functional. So My Sons' contacted a Local carpenter. My sons gave me the business card, and the Funds to have a custom designed Sideboard . It needs to be a sideboard and a Seating bench ( Flip the top add a designed cushion) . Since the Dining table is counter height It won't look out of proportion. Still working on the specs for the carpenter, and he has some good ideas too to aide on this unique piece! The one challenge will be if I want it stained or painted.
So I would recommend to some folks that are down sizing to consider multi function pieces.
