Yeah, QOL is what's it's about in the end. Commuting and being stuck in one place 24/7 would be the end for me.

The suburbs are ugly, because there's no natural beauty to most of the area. Inside the loop isn't ugly to me, Houston has very pretty areas. Immediately around my complex is ugly I guess but a few clicks north and I'm in TMC and it's far from ugly.

I've been researching The Woodlands, and it seems like a cool place in its own right.

Because your not? LOL. The pine missile tress aren't that big of deal. Plenty of places along the bayou within Houston that have more trees...

You are allowed to clear every tree out of your back yard in The Woodlands as long as you put back THREE..5 gallon trees........ that take 20 years to fill in......if they aren't pine

Just sayin'

One of the initial complaints from Homer is that he was bothered by the power lines here. I've been to Florida, and SC and both areas consisted of power lines. I've also seen photos and Google images of Los Angeles and I saw as many power lines and billboards as well.

However, powerlines are grievance since we tend to have stormy weather. I don't know why they won't bury lines underground.

I just moved to Houston and I love it. I grew up in Cali surrounded by a lot of natural beauty, so I understand where you are coming from. However, if you are only looking at the burbs of Houston, I can understand why you made the decision you did. Houston is a city with a lot to offer if you know where to look. Every weekend since we have moved to Houston has been an adventure. We have met some of the most amazing people since we moved here. I can't imagine being happier anywhere else now

You know what I mean! Generally if you're in metro Houston people still say Houston. It's not the amount of trees, its the fact that they're pines and most of them aren't cleared out. Katy is just grass, to compare.
