I don't know where people get the idea that amusement parks are some type of fad. Amusement parks are ALWAYS changing and being renovated. Earthquest Adventures is something that will last forever and attract out of state visitors.

Speaking of EA. What's the status on that thing? I've been hearing Houstonians on this forum talking about it for the past five years, but haven't heard anything else. Some ppl said it wasn't getting built. What's going on?

Hey, you gotta pay to play.

Besides, if they were smart they would offer some type of fast past system like Disney does.

I'm speaking about finished parks. IF built right; EQ could last for a very long time. Amusement parks aren't built for temporary use.

Grand Texas Theme park planned for Montgomery county near the EarthQuest site. They're hoping to open by March 2015. It will be base off of Texas history and culture.

That park looks a whole lot of boring.

And If I have to hop in a car to get all the way up there I might as well just go to San Antonio. That is a good 35Miles away from downtown.

Living in San Antonio I though going to Sea World was soooooooo far but that was only 15 Miles away from downtown (I lived near downtown). Even Fiesta Texas was only about 17miles from Downtown.

The center of Houston's population is west of Uptown. That areas is more than 45 miles away from there.

What are .

What are the public transportation plans for the area?

Can kids hop on some PT and head there on saturdays without mommy having to drive them?

Most people who have fun memories of Astroworld remember going there as a kid via bus with friends.

That drive everywhere thing is killing Houston for the kids growing up today. And for tourism. The area is just too large to get brand new transit to go everywhere. Getting to Galveston, Kemah, The major parks, etc is a pain

Yeah, it's going to be out there in the boonies. Too bad Astroworld is not around, it would have been great for convention tourist to hop the light rail there. There's also plan for another amusement park in Texas City. Same issue with PT. Amusement park in the works for Texas City | Prime Property | a Chron.com blog. I live in both Houston and Vegas and would rather see a casino built downtown or Galveston. I am tired of flying back and forth to Vegas and driving to Lake Charles.
