Well, look at what you're dealing with....vocal, bible-thumping voters. Buying a lottery ticket is virtually anonymous, whereas gambling in a casino is visible by God, angels and all their witnesses. Makes sense to me.

Just sayin'...

LOL!

Though one could argue that the casting lots in the Bible was sort of like gambling

A theme park is more likely to happen then a Casino. And even then a major theme park has a hard time getting off the ground.

So end thread/

Didn't some guy to buy a small town in TX and turn it into hooterville. Dead serious. It's one big Hooter's restaurant. The entire town is a theme park for adults.

Getting healed by Jesus was like playing a health care lottery (He could have just healed everybody)

I'll admit to not reading the whole thread as it is 7 pages now so forgive me if this has already been covered.

Casinos bring dollars but they almost always come with a cost in increased crime and sleaze (not to mention more traffic, etc.). Why anyone would want to have one in their hometown is beyond me. If the suburbanites in the crowd here are clamoring for one in Houston, I invite you to host it in your suburb instead.

As for theme parks, I am curious how many times per year those voting for a theme park went to Six Flags before it was dismantled?

Why add things that are primarily for tourists? Why not add things that benefit residents like a quality aquarium?

I keep coming back to NASA. For those of you that thought NASA was so boring, can you explain why? I've never been but find the space program fascinating. I think it might be better to expand that out and make it better vs building some silly roller coaster park. I think Houston needs to focus on it's themes of space and energy.

I agree. I don't see any good coming out of having a casino/gambling complex. Just a host of complex issues and swatches of extreme impoverished, run-down neighborhoods. I heard right outside of Atlantic City, is extremely impoverished neighborhoods/blocks. Prostitution, drugs, etc.

I say aquarium TOO. A theme park. A quality aquarium. A sports complex. Maybe two.... Not all in the same place, but throughout the area.
