Do you really think Nordic-style therapy session prison will work in America?

I guess with how soft everyone is becoming, maybe so.

Prove that mass incarceration works. The statistics you reference do not say that at all.
So it is your assertion that if we locked up every criminal up forever, it would not reduce crime? How exactly will a criminal commit a crime if they are locked up? That's obviously an unrealistic bookend, but do you seriously believe that would not reduce crime?

What is the goal if the criminal justice system? Reform or warehousing?

I do feel it’s a combo personally.

Keeping the public safe from criminals especially violent criminals is the top priority. I don't believe most hardened criminals can be reformed.

What is the legal definition of "hardened criminal"?

Keep in mind that subsequent convictions for felonies generally result in longer sentences under the Texas Penal Code.

So warehousing or reform?

This needs to be defined. Utche96, how do you define a hardened criminal?

It has nothing to do with whether mass incarceration reduces crime which is what WRM was asserting.

Here's a stat for you to refute somehow... someone incarcerated in the TDCJ isn't going to be killing anyone on the streets of Houston again. That's 100% guaranteed.

Multiply that by however many you need to use to get to 'mass' incarceration. They might kill each other within the system, but they absolutely, positively will not be killing the poor sob working the counter overnight at the stop'n'rob.

Agreed. It's really a strange thing to believe. Somehow it has become axiomatic among many of the Left.
