Exactly the hiring process is unfortunately all about sales and marketing and we all know how honest that arena is.
Yeah, just ask a car sales manager.
Folks get their panties in a wad cuz some poor gal lied about her experience with a fictional company.
A world class welder confided in me years ago about a lucrative job he landed by lieing on his application. He had to pass a heliarc welding test to get the position.
Not everyone knows this process (understandable) and it takes a certain amount of dexterity to perform it. It's kinda like your hand acts like a sewing needle.
He was so nervous during the test (hands visibly shaking) that he impressed the boss so much that he extended more money than the initial offer.
It really pisses me off that entry/mid level folks have to jump through hoops and are more scrutinized than our President of the United States.
Didn't I say I made a "mistake"??? Why are you being condescending? Is it to hear yourself talk??
It wasn't condescending. You were making up legislation that didn't exist and when you were asked to provide proof of that legislation, you said "oh, I got it mixed up." Ironic since you derailed this entire thread to promote lying.

Simple, Marilyn. You did NOT derail it when you originally stated what you would do. The OP seemd to be asking for opinions. But how many posts have you written to reiterate and defend that opinion? Thanks in large part to you, this thread has become about whether or not lying to your employer is acceptable. The OP never asked for that.

No, not just ME.
And many of my posts were in response to OTHERS quoting me trying to "shame" me or something.
I also didn't want the OP to go 'come clean' (which would have been foolish) to admit to lying as though HR would actually feel for her circumstances. She did the right thing by emailing them a "not the right fit" letter and moving on. As of now, they don't know if she was lying about past employment or not and can't spread it around as "fact", since the OP never admitted to it.
And you guys are just upset, because I said lying to the employer is "acceptable". Get over it!
