Trump has the task force and the briefings, he's promoting the efforts to the vaccine (which will likely never come or be moot by the time it's finished), he stopped the inbound international flights, and much after that, it's out of his hands!

It sounds more like you have internalized the frame of outlets like CNN who are insisting that Trump doesn't care about the virus, with zero evidence indicating that. And for every boomer who is terrified of dying and being permanently separated from his RV and cheesy McMansion that gets isolated by Trump "not doing enough," you have two small business owners who are staring down the barrel of bankruptcy if they're forced to be locked down for longer who are not going to be very receptive to Trump insisting that state govts pull up on the reopening process.

He has to thread a microscopic needle with a frayed piece of twine - he's going to **** off people no matter what. The true error here is people attributing the success or failure of America's ability to contain and overcome the coronavirus to Trump at all. The virus coming to the United State is not a result of something he did or didn't do. It's the result of Chinese negligence or malice, overcrowded cities, entire sections of our society that place minimal importance on health or hygiene, and that weird, double-edged sword of an independent streak that Americans have that has allowed us to conquer the world but also makes us get a little irritated at anyone suggesting we need to take precautions when a pandemic is taking root. There is very little Trump could have done differently with regards to the coronavirus and implying that there is is just accepting the false narrative constructed by a vindictive and dishonest media in a critical election year.
Again you weakly tie me to your perceived libby gazettes when I've been an INDEPENDENT for 50 years!! Trump is, was, has been and always will be a lying con artist. He still owes colleagues of mine money and I've watched him babble on like a petulant orangutan in person more than once. I don't need you and your predictable right wing talking point nonsense to' learn me' about Trump. I know. I knew in '79.

The entire Trump "response" was built around political paranoia, fear of accountability, China-phobia and incompetence. Anyone can see it. The results are obvious. CNN isn't saying it, REPUBLICANS are! No one buys Trump's "I'll fight the deep state" BS anymore 'cause he's handed out more pork and socialist rain than any deep stater ever dreamed. He jumped in the swamp with both feet. He begs the Fed to keep propping up the markets (despite 52% of Americans not owning a lick of equities, not even a 401k). He's done NOTHING cogent, smart or cohesive re Covid protocols or messaging. He's lied endlessly. He can't decide on what patriotism is ("some say a mask is patriotic"). He hires incompetent sycophant power grubbers who kiss his behind and then fires them when they deliver on their incompetence and stop the kissing. He's a draft dodging bunker hider who thinks he's a "law and order" guy who knows more than the "experts" (generals, doctors, more successful business people) on any range of issues. He's a clod.

There is very little Trump can do differently about anything because he is who he is and always has been. A dirty, sleazy, property rich/cash poor, pathological liar and business failure who had a successful NBC reality show. He's not unfit as the Dems like to say...he's flat out incompetent. Particularly if the word "United" in U.S. means anything anymore. All he had to do was speak as a leader to EVERYONE and lay down a few simple but unilateral protocols. Nope, instead he did what he does...got confused on how the political winds might blow, botched it, blames everyone, then makes up propaganda to scare up the rubes ("invisible china virus"). Classic.

We reasonable people don't need "doubly false narratives" leading into the election. We have eyes and ears.

So, you can't pin terrible TV time and laughable Tweets on anyone else. He is making his own bed by looking weak / shaky on camera, giving bad interviews, and posting constant dribble on social media.

Narratives not needed.

That also leaves 52% that invest in other investments. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!

So I guess the 60,000 new cases a day making the US one of the worst performers isn't Trumps fault its the states that he cheered to reopen. Does he ever take responsibility for anything, do leaders in other countries do the same.

Look across the border to Canada or even Mexico and tell me what you see.

He has said on camera, more than once, that he takes NO responsibility. On a variety of things that are fallout of his tweets and proclamations. So, the answer to your question is simply no.

This is the problem with these threads that devolve into back and forth polarized inflammatory statements like this. I dont even read CNN. I hate that site- it reads like the National Enquirer than a true journalistic source in recent years. Oh wow, surprise to read that eh? I hate the extreme right and the extreme left. As I've posted before, I am neither a registered Dem or Rep - I am an independent but even a moderate GOP'er has no choice but to distance themselves from the disaster that is called the Trump administration. The facts are pretty clear that they have bungled the coronavirus response from the beginning starting with DJT's complete reluctance to accept what scientists/epidemiologists have told him from day 1.

(1) DJT failed to make the virus a priority from day 1 as all he cared about was hoping it would "just disappear" despite clear evidence to the contrary. Without adequate Testing, Tracing, and Isolation of affected citizens, the spread would undoubtedly continue (and is still ongoing as his administration continues to downplay the severity of this public health crisis).
(2) The travel ban from China failed to account for numerous loopholes. As we now know, the virus from China landed in Seattle/west coast but the European strain landed in NYC where it was much more lethal. Leisure travel should have been restricted from that day, and face mask coverings should have been mandatory for all employees and flyers to minimize the spread. There is clear evidence that some Americans got infected on airplanes and flight attendants have implored airlines to mandate face coverings with no support from the federal government to encourage this.
(3) and of course, lets not forget the disaster of the government's handling of testing (see: https://www.esquire.com/news-politic...cted-who-test/ and https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...failure-123166) Had there been a plan in place that prioritized the need for PPE on a national scale, we wouldnt have seen every state basically left up to its own devices as to how to deal with shortages.
