FOOD.

Climate - which provides endless opportunities to do outdorsy things almost year-round.

Landscape - beaches, mountains, palm trees, bougeanvillas.

Ethnic/cultural diversity - which leads to even better food!

Architectural style of houses and other buildings - here on the East Coast it's 99% crappy boxy colonial housing stock.

CLAD is only required for teachers in CA. I'm not a teacher, I'm a counselor.

LA isnt the greatest, but it has a lot going for it and its getting nicer except the cost of living, driving and lack of good public transit.

Compared to the rest of the country LA is better than maybe 90% of the country, but its very expensive.

Exactly.... Yesterday I was surfing in Huntington Beach and today I am snow skiing in Mammoth!

IMO LA is more a place to work than a place to live

Ya got me! I came up here to ski, but so far have only used the snowblower to clear the driveway, deck and walkway to our house, brought in some firewood, got a fire going, put away the groceries I brought up. I did manage to hop on my snowmobile to visit a couple of friends who live up here year round.
It’s been snowing pretty hard.

Los Angeles is extremely expensive. I have lived there for four years and honestly, it was quite difficult. However, New York is much better and offers reasonable job opportunities.

I just hate, hate and I mean HATE the traffic! Last weekend, the family and I went to the LA Auto Show and the traffic was unbelievable, even for LA. We live in Ventura county, so when I go down to LA, I am hoping the traffic is kind... but that's pretty much a dream.

Reality is if you live or want to hang out in LA, be patient because you will have to endure some insane traffic. Other than the traffic, LA is cool!
